Next up, Magna Mojaren Gran discussing the use of cheap and widely available RGB photogrammetry to map crop marks by differential height. #AARG
Sadly the second talk is pre-publication so no pictures. Interesting to hear about the challenges of flying a petroleum powered drone for LiDAR surveys. #AARG
First up is James Bonsall talking about aerial and geophysical surveys in County Sligo. #AARG
Conference Season is upon us and I’m starting off in Trondheim for the #AARG annual conference. The scenery definitely makes a change from Yorkshire.
Incredibly depressing day. I've spent my entire life being told by British governments how dreadful immigration is. New Labour did it. The Coalition. The Brexiters. Now Starmer. All of them accusing the ones who came before them of failing to clamp down. The same old vacant mean-spirited bollocks.
Very enjoyable jaunt down to @royalastrosoc.bsky.social and @geolsoc.bsky.social for a day of agricultural/environmental geophysics. Also great to bump into @seismo-steve.bsky.social, both in denial that we’re ~15 years older than our last meeting though!
I fly a lot, and I've learned the drill: take off shoes, computer out of bag. So this morning I took off a shoe - and noticed no one else was. Then the TSA lady yelled at me - "Did you hear anyone tell you to take off your shoes?" as if, where would I have gotten such an odd idea. 🤣 #timeschange
Let me get this straight:
Fringe extremist infiltrates a major political party, rises to the rank of Vice President, throws around diplomatic weight to force a meeting with the Pope, and then MURDERS said Pope?
Folks. This is a Dan Brown novel.
It’s 9am TFT time here, and citizens are already gathering to protest Tariffs by the United States. Our plain clothes Officer Penguins are attempting to maintain calm, but unfortunately we keep losing them in the crowd.
A long day, commuting Yorkshire to London & back, but worth it for the impromptu walk through @barbican.bsky.social

Not quite able to make it in person to @rolandfilzwieser.bsky.social archaeological geophysics talk at @uniofbradford.bsky.social but enjoying the group watch with @magnitudesurveys.com
After one year of the Bradford clean air / low emission zone, GP visits for breathing and heart problems were down by a quarter.
My latest for @theguardian.com.

Donold is blaming a plane crash that killed 67 people on “DEI” with zero evidence.
He is attempting to use racism to deflect from the fact it is HIS fault. He had just removed 100 FAA senior officials.
It’s been 11 days and there are 67 bodies in the Potomac in Washington DC because of him.
@magnitudesurveys.com wreath making class with added @northernmonk.bsky.social
And we’ve made it. Final talk from @drstamnes.bsky.social on Viking and high medieval site in Denmark. #nsgg
If you work in UK #Archaeology and have ever used a local authority archaeological service or #HER, please can you fill in this survey? Repost and shares with your contacts would be very helpful!
