I can tell you the moment I knew I was in too deep with gritting Comms. As a family, we were about to sit down to Christmas dinner. For some reason I was the only one to think delaying things so I could tweet was a bad idea...

Dear Roy, Before Christmas you had a Wheelie Bin pinched. I have just had a Satellite Dish taken from my garden. I used this as a Parabolic Reflector for recording Birdsong. So if anyone sees this at a car boot sale, be careful as it may be Radioactive.

Tomorrow evening it’ll be my annual duty to vaguely shepherd the activity on the #duvetknowitschristmas hashtag and urge people to give small sums to charity. 7.30pm? Something like that?

Controversial opinion. 1978 was peak year for football kits. Holland, Peru, Scotland, Wales, Ray Clemence's yellow England top and bizarrely... Mexico. This Latin number was made by Levi's. I kid you not.

All of a sudden, a World Cup semi-final and two Euros finals under Gareth Southgate doesn't look so bad now does it?

It's a miracle that nobody was killed in the Liverpool trophy parade incident, thankfully. I've taken a look at the first few hours to see what public sector comms can all learn. danslee.co.uk/2025/06/01/l...

Wondering if @lornaprescott.bsky.social would be up for a cup of coffee at that indie cafe in Quarry Bank park because I no longer bump into her and I'm keen to hear how she is faring.

Remembering Nick Booth Last week, I heard that Nick Booth had died and as with so many others who knew him even slightly, it stopped me in my tracks. A couple of weeks before I’d heard that Ben Whitehouse had also passed…

Sad to read the news about @podnosh.bsky.social in this post by @danslee.bsky.social. Nick was one of the early pioneers of social media across charities and local government.

Absolutely barbarism. And anyone calling themselves a Christian – or any supposed Christian group – defending this kind of decision is unworthy of the name. It’s a suicide hotline, ffs.

X GAMES: What Center Parcs can teach you about quitting X If you are thinking about your X strategy then the example of Centre Parcs UK shows the need to maybe mothball rather than delete. The woodland residential holiday destination deleted their account…

Mothball rather than delete your X account.

Here's a great example of why this is the right way to leave X, shared here by @danslee.bsky.social.

Amazing the way Dell have arranged for firmware updates always at the most inconvenient times. That takes real talent. High fives, everyone.

A rare moment when your Mum, your Dad your Grandpa or whoever comes into your life so powerfully you could touch them. Beautiful. Well done, Newcastle.

It's exactly that special moment that normal supporters can connect with and Liverpool with their wealth of trophies won't feel so strongly.

When Stoke got to Wembley in 2011, at the Bobby Moore statue had so many people catching a moment. I thought of my late Mum who always joked how she'd buy our tickets.

Why were there supporter's tears when Newcastle United won the League Cup? I don't support their club but I know in that moment they're often thinking of loved ones who would have loved to have been there too.
