That's beside the point. Of course this is awful and undemocratic. But if we had moved on regional reform ourselves more than a decade ago when multiple grassroots efforts tried to lead the charge, we wouldn't be subjected to the undemocratic awfulness we're currently getting.

Ford government giving sweeping powers to appointed regional chairs Municipal Affairs Minister Rob Flack is giving sweeping powers to the regional chairs the government will appoint to head Ontario's eight largest regional councils.

Waterloo Region is getting an appointed regional chair, which is exactly what it deserves after decades of unwillingness to update its antiquated, burdensome, and over-populated two-tier municipal government. www.thestar.com/politics/pro...

We should just stop with general elections and simply vote for a prime minister, then let him or her draft a team, kinda like hockey. So Canadian!

When we normalize floor crossing, we get more floor crossing. If you want to change teams, ask voters in a by-election. This isn't hard.

Chair Redman talked about a lot of plans in her 2024 address. Where are the plans now? Because they all need water.

Just remember, the province is responsible for this ramp and highway. I did find it curious that the snow was suddenly cleared -- and in an awful hurry -- *after* the tragedy.

Suit between retired teacher, Waterloo Region's public board settled A settlement has now been reached in a $1.75 million lawsuit between a retired teacher and WRDSB centred around age-appropriate books.

From the utter disaster that was the hiring (and firing) of the former director to the money spent in court fighting each other and the public, Waterloo Region's public school board has been a very poor steward of the public purse. The election is in October. kitchener.citynews.ca/2026/01/20/s...
