Has the Christian faith ever provided some control over corrupt people and governments? Or is that just something it claims to have done?

It's a nice mental picture, and I don't want to take that away from you, but I think the truth was a little different.

The Relationship Illusion Why Christianity’s “personal Jesus” isn’t that special

“It’s not a religion, it’s a relationship.”

That sounds profound—until you realize it’s just a relationship… with an imaginary friend. My new essay explores the psychology behind Christianity’s “personal Jesus” and why it’s not as unique—or divine—as believers think.

It's time to stop thinking about Christians as "the good guys" or Christianity as a "moral religion". It's never been that. It's always just been a PR facade to prop up an authoritarian ideology.

Grew up under a fully psycho fundamentalist father ! You couldn’t speak to him unless spoken to . You couldn’t associate with ppl not in the church . I was 14 before I had a non Christian friend over . Xtians are isolated because exposure to education destroys the mythology they push as facts

"As more experts abandon evangelical Christianity, evangelicals lose access to expertise. As they lose access to expertise, they become more suspicious of experts in general. And as they become more suspicious of experts, they drive away the few remaining intelligent voices within their…movement."

Christian groups increasingly lack smart people, so are forced to consult fools as their 'experts'.
