I think its related to the trap most people fall into where you just know your positions are Correct and Obvious and so anything that suggests it isn't popular is malicious and can be ignored. But you can't do that. If you want to change opinions you have to acknowledge where opinions are.
This sentiment sums up one of my biggest gripes with leftist polling. This expectation that if you're not biasing and wording the questions to get the best results you're doing it wrong. That can be nice for propaganda but if you want to plan messaging you need to see how people really think.

The closest I've seen is "its bad for her to lay on the floor because of her joints". But she didn't lay on the floor. She put a single paw off of her mat. Is it bad for her joints to walk around the room? Is it bad for her joints to come over for scritches? Is it bad for her joints to get a drink?
I've yet to see a satisfying explanation for why:
