Was the Venezuela gang's 'fast boat' crew bent on terrorism? - Asia Times US President Donald Trump released dramatic footage of a "fast boat," described as belonging to the Tren de Aragua criminal gang, destroyed somewhere in

So killing 11 people in international waters is fine these days?

No proof of drugs, no proof of destination, and very hard to find any news outlet that questions the basic facts… complicit media.

Why would 11 people be on a drug run?

It’s very interesting that lots of official evidence is being released…
… it’s like they’re trying to justify the verdict.
I can’t remember ever seeing court evidence being released like this…

Australia's Federal Court clarifies: Anti-Zionism and criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic In a pivotal ruling, Australia's Federal Court affirms that anti-Zionism does not equate to anti-Semitism, following a controversial case involving a Muslim cleric's lectures.

“In a landmark judgment, Justice Angus Stewart of the Federal Court of Australia ruled that anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism.”

Sorry, said that wrong! The Peter Falconio case verdict was not overturned. I meant the media and public criticism/bias against Joanne Lees was overturned!

The jury also took quite a while to come to their decision.
Juries are often dominated by one or two persuasive members who convince weaker members to go their way.

No doubt time will tell 🧐

I wouldn’t be surprised if, down the track a bit, it turns out it was the husband setting her up & he wasn’t really investigated. 🫢

He had motive. I believe there is a viable alternative.

However, when the police are proved wrong, they tend to double down on a bad decision, instead of finding the truth.

A particular problem I find is the police ‘Facts Sheet’ which is presented to court as ‘fact’ when it’s not. It is the alleged facts from the police’s perspective only.

That is something that has been taken out of context in case after case.
The police are under public & political pressure to solve these cases as quickly as possible. The trouble for me is, they often seem to pick the easiest perpetrator instead of investigating further. Not all coppers obviously 🙄

I also wonder if this case, like the Lindy Chamberlain case, like the Peter Falconio case, and others, will result in an overturned conviction years down the track. 🧐

Like the main women in those cases, Patterson was criticised for showing ‘no emotion’ or the ‘wrong emotion’ in the media.

Absolutely 👍🏻

And I think you’re right, the sub judice rules have been stretched to the limit, if not beyond!

When there’s this amount of media hype, it always makes me question the process and the verdict. I assume she’ll appeal once the hype settles down.

It’s supposed to, but I don’t think it does the way it’s set up

I think there are too many cases of media coverage causing public bias, resulting in undue influence in convictions and sentencing.

If media & public were allowed to attend, but not to report on the trial until afterwards, I believe a fairer trial would result.

We place a lot of burden and responsibility on jurors to be honest and to not take any notice of any media reporting on a case, so why have that temptation for them in the first place?

Times have changed, so should the laws around trials, in my opinion.

#ErinPatterson verdict: guilty.

I don’t know if she did it or not. I can’t have a balanced opinion on that as I didn’t see or hear the evidence 🤷‍♀️

But I can’t help but think high profile trials like that shouldn’t be reported on in the media until after a verdict has been reached…

Trump attacks Musk as public feud escalates over tax-cut bill Trump also asserted that Musk's days of blistering attacks on the bill were motivated by the proposed elimination of consumer tax credits for electric vehicles.

The breakup of the bromance was bound to be explosive, but not at all unexpected. 🧨

“These acts of censorship are aimed at obliterating a growing movement that refuses to be silent about Israel’s genocide, and that demands accountability for its gravest of war crimes in Palestine.”

The censorship of people’s political views is unAustralian IMO!

I’ve had a little break after the election… following politics can be a weary, depressing affair.
Imagine how the journos & pollies feel all the time 😆
Although I’m disappointed that we didn’t get Caz in #Cowper, that we still have to deal with the Do-Nothing Nats…
