They have to stand strong. Agree to nothing until everything is agreed to. Trump's only threat is he'll cancel CUSMA. Fine, call his bluff. He's at 35% approval, mired in a war he can't end that's devastating the global economy and midterm elections are in 6 months. Let's see if he'll cancel CUSMA.

Two weeks ago Iran has closed the Strait and Trump demanded Iran open up the Strait or else he'd obliterate Iran.

Today Trump is claiming he has closed the Strait and if he opened it he'd have to obliterate Iran.

Your comments on who they added is fair too, and I did get into some of that in my post (mostly under Treliving). I just think the primary problem was spending picks/prospects to prematurely chase hope.

Doesn't matter. In my opinion it was the expensive rental market that they shouldn't have been in. You can't deplete your prospect pool when you are still a young building team. They entered a phase of chasing but never gaining ground.

As for Kadri, it would be a lot harder to trade him if Tavares wasn't around and you needed Kadri as a 2C. Maybe there were other reasons too, but Kadri at 3C was a luxury Dubas deemed unnecessary.

I also don't think they should have played in the expensive rental market before the team had shown they could win a playoff round.

Dubas has admitted his mistake was not doing more to lock up, or at least make progress on negotiations with, the young stars before signing Tavares.

Trump is just trying to make government more efficient by cutting out the middle man (lobbyists) when it comes to government cronyism and corruption. I guess that is what he meant by drain the swamp.

Tough loss for Ottawa. Close game but probably deserved to win that one.

Can't believe shots are only 3-1 this OT.

Really the first time this series where Carolina has been on their heels.

Ottawa looking like the faster team this period, has Carolina backing off a bit.

They stole him from Buffalo. He'll be a great 2C for Ottawa for years.

I am working on an article on the state of the Leafs and what went wrong in 2025-26, but I am curious what Leaf fans think. What are the one or two things that went wrong and explain why it resulted in them falling so far in the standings.

The challenge is how to achieve efficiency in a government run model because you can always throw more money at a problem and get better outcomes. Of course that requires borrowing (making your kids and grand kids pay your bill) or taxing (making your country less competitive globally).

Again, I disagree with this. An organization that doesn't have a profit motive probably doesn't have an efficiency motive either. The profit motive drives efficiency.

If your only objective is profit, then quality of service suffers.
If your only objective is quality of service, efficiency suffers.

I believe the centrism is more pragmatic and chooses the solution best suited for the task at hand drawing a little from both the left and right viewpoints.

It starts to get ridiculous when you start claiming that government is ALWAYS more efficient. That is a very leftist/socialist way of thinking.

The right on the other hand almost always thinks that capitalism, competition and free markets lead to most efficient solutions.

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

Why stop there. If government is always more efficient, then should they be producing the fertilizer and animal feed being used on theses farms? Should they be building the tractors and other farm equipment too? The steel mills and lumber yards to produce steel/wood used in building the barns?

The common thread between school food program and government run grocery stores is food. Should government also operate meat packers, bakeries, food processing plants, and farms to supply the school food program and government run grocery stores?

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

Do you actually believe that public funds given to private for profit corporations *ALWAYS* ends up being more expensive and less effective?
You bring up the School Food Program. Are you saying with certainty that a government run school food program would be more efficient? Maybe. Maybe not.

The NYR and VAN could form an interesting article on how not to run a franchise. They both seem to have caused self inflicted wounds the past couple seasons.

If anyone has a team or player or topic that they think might warrant a deep dive article let me know.
