I met Thomas Wouters in the hotel lobby. We talked about Python, community, the people who make it what it is.
Three days later he was called on stage as a Distinguished Service Award recipient. He gave no hint.

I love playing games in hotel lobbies during @pycon.us.

It's hard to think of someone as an unapproachable stranger when you've spent 20 minutes playing a game in a small group with them.

I plan to play games in The Westin lobby during #PyConUS at least a couple nights.

See you at The Westin?

Why are we even having something called "Pentagon Worship Services?" If we're just going to mash things together, I think we should be shooting for "Sushi at the Laundromat" and "Foot Massages in the DMV Waiting Area" and not this 1A hot mess.

Divided NJ Legislature gives final passage to three anti-ICE bills • New Jersey Monitor The bills would restrict when New Jersey cops can aid federal immigration agents. Critics say they trample on federal authority.

Other states are taking action against ICE violence. MA should join them.

MA Stands with Our Immigrant Communities Over the past couple weeks, we have seen increased ICE presence in Massachusetts. ICE has been kidnapping people off the streets, harassing bystanders, and terrorizing communities.

MA lags behind other blue states in the basics when it comes to limiting police collaboration with ICE. Far past time to correct that and catch up. actionnetwork.org/letters/ma-n...

Talk with your colleagues about safety protocols. When is it okay to share each other's contact information? If you're in the office, how do you field requests from unexpected visitors? Is there a manager or department leader willing to field emails on your behalf?

Things we learned from my wife being profiled by Campus Reform a few years ago:

- Be careful responding to emails from people you don't know asking about your research
- Don't list your office location on your university web profile page

I think many people were outraged about the Minnesota lawmaker who was murdered but we trusted Tim Walz not to rile up a bunch of barely verbal vigilantes to make sure that loads and loads more "political violence" immediately followed.
