Can you share the syllabus or any other teaching material? I've been planning a "Psychology of Roleplay" seminar course and there's probably some overlap

There are a few good books and guides, my (biased) suggestion is the text I wrote for this very purpose

Thrilled to share our paper on the formation of brain shape in human newborns, just out @natneuro.nature.com: tinyurl.com/2ty4ef43
Using #fractal analysis of #MRI data from the developing Human Connectome Project (lnkd.in/dxeHbJX6), we show that brain shape closely captures infant age and genetics ⬇️

There definitely are many people using it with time-series data, I know there's a literature with EEG brain activity.
For brain structure, so much of the literature is 'size' (volume/thickness/area), but glosses over what shape the volume is.

About 10 years ago I came across 'fractal dimensionality' as a measure of brain structure. Studying it's utility with healthy aging, clinical populations, and across species has led to 19 papers since then. The most recent paper is now online at Nature Neuroscience!

You can do this right now:

Think of a person who wrote a paper you love, whose work influenced or helped you, or has made your professional life better.

Search up their email address. Shoot them a quick email of thanks. It means so, so much. This is a rough time of year, share some joy.

Three Surprises From Attempting To Replicate Recent Studies in Top Psychology Journals
Amanda Metskas

How has the replication rate of psychology studies changed in recent years?

Are we still experiencing a “replication crisis,” where only 40-60% of results replicate when the study is conducted again?

"Replication rates are higher than experts predicted and p-hacking is much less common than we expected!"

I've had this issue too, though a few years ago. Coauthored preprints were fine, but all single author ones were privated and had to individually be made public again.

Language and/or memory: How to slice the domain-cake? Historically, memory and language have been seen as separate cognitive functions and studied in isolation. To date, it remains an open question to what extent these cognitive domains are related. H...

Cutting international bachelor programs threatens psychological science » Eiko Fried Two days ago, four Dutch universities announced discontinuing their English-speaking psychology bachelor programs (1, 2). I will briefly explain (1) how this decision came to be, (2) why this is such ...

Four large Dutch universities, including Leiden University where I work, have decided to throw international psychology bachelor programs under the bus in an effort to appease the rightwing government.

Here's my blog why this is a terrible idea.

Australian academics refuse to attend US conferences for fear of being detained ‘When academics fear travelling or partnering with US institutions, the impacts ripple through the entire global knowledge ecosystem,’ one says

I never thought that fear of detention or deportation would have been on the list of reasons for making conferences hybrid, but this seems compelling
