You’d think being opposed to nation states and militarism would suffice but I guess we need to blindly adopt a set of politics that actively cheerleads the statist militarism of whoever’s oppressed this week.
I got chewed out for pointing out the obvious back during the encampments (and for making an awesome joke) but there’s still some alleged anarchists insisting on upholding not just a statist anti-imperialism position but this stupid idea about left unity
Now that the anti-imperialists are back to openly calling for the eradication of anarchists, is safe to assume that they’re our FUCKING ENEMIES?
People are doing incredible things out of sheer exasperation and all the nerd ass nerds are asking how any of it’s supposed to help the growth of the DSA

On this day in 1760, a rebellion of enslaved people known as Tacky's Revolt broke out in the then-British colony of Jamaica.

#OtD 1 Apr 1972 the Situationist International was dissolved. One of the first revolutionary groups to analyse capitalism in its consumerist form, their ideas came to prominence after the France 1968 uprising. Read more: shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/...

At this time we do not know what restrictions will be in place, nor for how long...
A lot of this shit isn’t a given; even something like “all cops suck” requires a lot of discussion with people not even 6 years after the uprising. Hell, there’s still pro-cop sentiments among the most ravenous ICE protestors. What, oh, what could ever change that?
“For what purpose? To what end?” How can you answer those questions, as an alleged radical, without being able to analyze and critique what’s wrong with the world around you? And why would you, as an alleged radical, not want other people to do the same?
I’ve seen it primarily among the organizational fetishists, be they anarchists, leftists, or liberal abolitionists, as they all vaguely demand to “organize!” without really trying to read the terrain they’re on, or, what I find particularly gross, trying to hide their politics.
Reading groups and theory aren’t the problem, it’s the insular nature of middle class, university-educated pro-revolutionaries deliberating about a subjectivity they don’t inhabit. It’s the self-positioning of a set of ppl demanding a revolution that they’ve decided is out of their own hands.
It’s also a prime example of a lot of radicals’ inability to *not* place themselves outside or above this alleged mass that they’re attempting to “organize”. They’re often overcorrecting this inverse example of insular university reading groups but misreading what’s wrong with them (and themselves).
I have a mixture of speculation as to the cause of those sentiments and it’s partly some ppl making excuses for their own inadequacies, and partly a nefarious plot by the would-be managers of social struggles to prevent people from developing their own perspectives.
Every time I hear or read some nonsense about not needing theory, or that nobody has time, or that “the working class can’t read” (thx tumblr) I think back to DRUM and the LRBW and laugh.
Can’t help but think about how much of that case woulda been a wash if those five fucking rats woulda not cooperated
And most importantly there needs to be consequences for people snitching. After those idiots in Florida were sitting in court telling on each other they had people defending them saying “what’s the big deal”
This is honestly what happens when things like solidarity, mutual aid, and security culture are diluted of their political content and lose all meaning, context, & value. People jumping into really militant actions without doing the boring work of getting to know others. Big talk, no sensibility.
There’s been a shocking regression over the last several years about what it means to talk to and cooperate with the state. At one time it seemed like a given that you keep your mouth shut and take the time but there’s now several instances indicating it no longer being the case.

This week, we're featuring an anonymized chat with a longtime anarchist on trauma, the need for strong relationships & movements offering shelter / strong alternatives to the alienated society of state and capital + inviting in new comrades!

If anything stands in the way of real movement it’s whiteness, and white people, and the inability to subdue the almost lecherous impulse to stabilize your world becoming unsettled by the rumblings in the periphery.
Class struggle in this stupid country inherently means upending the racial order as top priority, and that’s gonna mean throwing white people in the blender in a real way.
