And honestly I don't know why you people can't just grow the fuck up and get the fuck over it. But I suspect it's partly because if some people begin to question gender roles everything in their lives will fall apart in a matter of minutes.
The biggest fights I've had in my family was when I dared to tell grown adults to stop trying to force gender roles on my kids by doing stuff like giving my daughter make-up. Offense taken like you cannot believe, people are still a bit upset about it. Adults are fucking weird about gender.
I later felt guilty about this and tried to play with the doll because it clearly made my mother happy. I was bored out of my skull, but this was just taken as more proof that all little girls want to play with dolls.

When my kids were very small, total strangers would try to intervene if they saw my son playing with something pink or picking up a doll. There's a reason why children tend to play certain ways and that reason is adults are obsessed with policing gender in completely unnatural ways.
