In the first #SANS2026 session on social learning @csavasegal.bsky.social shows that self-generated interpretations anchor how we remember ambiguous social info, even when others offer a different take, and how neural shifts help us make the shift

Saving SBE Starts Before the Bill Is Written The FY2027 NSF budget request is alarming, but Congress has not made it law. That means there is still time for researchers and universities to act.

I wrote this article to explain in plain English what is happening with the proposed 2027 NSF budget & why so many social psychologists are alarmed.

THE GOOD NEWS: Congress has not finalized this yet. We have time to change Republican politiciansโ€™ minds.

Very happy that this paper from our lab is now out in @pnas.org! What happens when the *same* person experiences the *same* information with a *different* interpretation? Nearly the whole ๐Ÿง โ€”well, at least nearly all association cortexโ€”changes how it represents that information! tinyurl.com/p8chj2j7

New preprint from Lindsey Tepfer (@ltjaql.bsky.social) and me! We silenced portions of internal monologues in two films to manipulate participants' access to characters' thoughts. Using ISC and RSA, we found that this aligned later neural processing of the narrative & encoding of trait impressions.

๐Ÿง ย New paper alert! Can people infer othersโ€™ values not from what they choose, but simply from what comes to mind? Across four studies, we show they canโ€”drawing on an intuitive theory of how options are generated.

I'm happy to now be able to share a talk I gave at TEDx New England last Fall!ย

The talk is about our lab's work on what makes decisions costly, and how to make them less so.

I discuss lessons for all kinds of decisions, including getting people to vote.
