For a graph? You could use little +, -, and o's. Both because fun and clear when printed in black/white.
Because of market power or because of changes in slope of demand functions?
Is anyone looking for a last minute extra paper on pollution, education, or health (or crime) for a panel at #ASSA2027?
In 1977, two fifths of faculty were under 40. In 1996, that had gone down by approximately half.
Age distribution of US university faculty 1977, 1987, 1996. Anyone know what this looks like today or in other countries?
I'm putting together the summer schedule for the ViCE seminar (link below). Have a working paper related to crime or criminal justice policy that you'd like to present? Send it to me! (Papers measuring causal effects are the best fit.)
Just posted! We're hiring for a full time lecturer in analytics/econometrics at BU Questrom for this coming fall. Apply ASAP at academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/31942
We’ve updated our primer on SNAP work requirements to reflect changes to policy in Trump 2.0.
These policy changes will leave needy families hungry with no meaningful effects on work.
OK, time for a game!
These charts show employment for a selection of detailed industries (4-digit NAICS) vs their prepandemic (2012-2019) trend. Which ones, if any, seem to show the effect of AI? (Chat GPT launch shown for reference.)
I'll post a version with industry labels in a bit.

I’ve decided I need to explicitly teach students how to make, label, & title tables & write table notes
Therefore, I am asking for donations
I need:
🤦♀️tables that suck
🏆tables that shine
☑️tables that once sucked & now shine
Drop me a screenshot or DM & I will produce a nice resource for all of us
The next ViCE seminar is this Thursday, April 9, at 1pm ET.
Sofia Amaral will present: "Can Debiasing Law Enforcement Officers Improve Performance? Evidence from an Expressive Arts Intervention in India"
If you teach intro to Econ and would be interested in being part of an RCT on AI homework tutor I have a good lead on funding. Participating faculty will get $500 to $1000. DM me or email sgitter@towson.edu
Please repost! Repost and I'll buy you a drink at ASSA 2027 or future conference
For the APPAM crowd: I'm still looking for a home for a paper on SNAP work requirements — please feel free to reach out if you're still pulling together a panel where it might be a good fit!
(Policy RCT panels would also work)
i'm sorry wtf do you mean by "Appendix U"
Celebrate everything possible!
It's transgender day of visibility for a few more hours. Be an ally to our colleagues and graduate and UG students and all others in the community.
Anyone have examples of policies on the use of AI for dissertations you can point me to? #econsky #edusky

Asking the internet to help crowdsource - what are your small pieces of advice for a successful campus visit?
Things like:
1. have a protein bar
2. drink lots of water,
3. wear comfortable shoes because someone will inevitably suggest a walk instead of meeting in their office
Bring deodorant with you, or at least I did. It's a long, sometimes stressful day.
When this haircut shows up in your arrakis it means spice prices about to go up
Congrats! 🎉
NYC friends! I'm around next week and free for some happy hours and dinners. DM me and let's hang!
