5. Failure at god school vol 3

Honestly it is painfully obvious this was originally LN that is being adapted as manga. Really frustrating cus I genuinely enjoy the chill take on the super power genre. Still enjoying it but not exactly rushing to recommend.

4. Gene bride vol 1-3

I have zero idea where the fuck this is going but honestly I’m impressed. It really manages to weave in the sci-fi elements so seamlessly you almost forget it’s not how the real world works. Tens across the board

3. Gusts and beats (up to Ch 19)

Genuinely such a bueatiful and haunting manga. I didn’t expect the supernatural twists but it really works well. I can already tell the ending will be such a gut punch and I can’t wait.

2. Kamisama ga Koi wo Shiro to Itte Iru!

You can tell that it was getting canned because the second half was very very rushed. Really disappointing because there are some great exploration the mental toll a time loop would take on someone. Also I dispise the ending holy shit

The hikaru to fudanshi pipeline is real

Even ai-friends and aine’s 100 friends thing feels like aikatsu version of pripara’s “everyone is a friend everyone’s an idol” moto.

In a lot of way it’s why it’s full circle when pretty series’s current season is heavily inspired by ai-friends to the point of practically both leads from it.

One I can think on the top of my head, Akari gen 2 arcade had a short lived unit building mechanic to compete with pripara problem is that the game was so clearly not made for it in mind.

Ai stars switch to printed cards was in line with what pretty series was doing.

There have been many points where you can tell market research was conducted to see what about pretty series worked though in practice it can across as throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks.

I do think pretty series should also be taken into account. Ichigo gen coincided with pretty rhythm gen which also struggled heavily to capture any audience. When they finally did with pripara it split the kid’s idol audience. It still favored pretty series over all though
