This morning, Benton County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to deny the Coffin Butte landfill expansion, a reversal of their Nov. 2025 approval.
The decision comes after a reconsideration period in light of a pre-enforcement notice from @oregondeq.bsky.social.
"The report concludes that a state Department of Environmental Quality pre-enforcement notice, finding seven serious environmental violations at the landfill, undermines the company’s odor study, which had shown no impacts on neighbors."
