War Happens in Dark Places, Too In thick woods and swamplands and on small river islands, they bided their time.

Seven years ago, we published our first piece, a gorgeous essay by @kerileighmerritt.bsky.social. Since then, we've published nearly 400 pieces and paid every single contributor for their work. Thanks to everyone who's donated to, read, and taught with our magazine over the years!

Latest piece, on the joy of creating courses for and teaching history to lifelong learners. The average age of my sharp, curious, and (in many cases) globe-trotting seniors? 70. "We may be old," said one such student, "but we're not dead yet."

Nurses Need History Too – AHA Teaching history to nursing students gives essential context to the healthcare systems they work in.

In #AHAPerspectives, @drkyliesmith.bsky.social shares how she approaches teaching history to her nursing students. “Students need to learn a broad conception of history that explores the economic and political forces that shape their patients’ lives, as well as their own profession.” 🗃️

Wrapped up #AHA26 fun, but could not bear flying home w/o good fiction for the ride. So glad to find Strandmeyer's, right around the corner from the Hilton. 10/10 recommend! (Just loved The Ferryman and Wife, short and gorgeous read; now on North Woods...)
