I didn’t say profitable now. I said a nice business. Assuming that models continue with the current rate of efficiency gains and and the actual app continues to prove sticky, I definitely see paths to profitability. I give them $20 a month because the app is useful, that’s not model dependent
The actual ChatGPT app is great and sticky. And they seem to be finding ways to charge more money. It’s the buildout that is causing losses. Honestly OpenAI could switch to Llama tomorrow inside their app and have a really nice subscription business.
