question: given spurs are only 47% to get relegated, how come the bottom left scenario is rated more likely than the top left?

this is it. he's already leading a largely interior life, then the pandemic takes him out of society at age 13, then darts keeps him out of it.

love that those are the two examples you went for

i'm obviously not remotely qualified to make that sort of judgement. i am, however, obsessed with the fact that he failed his driving theory test six times

on a side point, "i said to him, 'well done, you got the win'" has to be up there with "it's an early bath for you, mr cantona" in the pantheon of great sporting fictions

so when van veen objects to littler celebrating a missed double, littler's response is "well, why did you turn round in the first place?". he genuinely thinks the turning round is worse. which is exactly what you'd think if you didn't recognise human volition as separate from competitive instinct

when an opponent acts in a way that doesn't fit the usual competitive dynamic, it totally baffles him. pietrezcko makes a self-deprecating joke at the interval and littler fumes at his "mind games". schindler throws him a casual compliment and littler's instinctive response is "living rent free"

this is a very interesting interview because it largely confirms what i've long suspected about littler: he doesn't really grasp social interaction beyond its most basic level. for him, the world is essentially one big game of darts. there's player 1, player 2, the crowd (£££), and that's it.

manchester united have spent more than a decade trying to fill their ferguson-shaped hole. *very* weirdly, the closest attempt yet may be the lad playing in midfield
