But see, I would totally go to a bar with these guys and I'm sure we'd have a blast, but I would jump out of my skin if I bumped into that Fever Ray cover in real life...

Good point. I was listening to SILENT SHOUT today and yeah...

So how was it?!

It's already time to revoke Marcell Ozuna's authorization to call for a review of balls and strikes. I don't watch every game mind you but he's gotten it wrong all 3 times I've watched him do it

Well, I have to admit that I'm not all aboard the Ladytron train (can I be honest and say I though that the '01 Casiotone for the Painfully Alone did "early 80's retro synth" better IMO?), but I didn't connect with MMJ and I went with Ladytron as the higher seed. Sure hope they don't get upset!

Well, in a pinch even *I* can warble like a Muppet, but I don't think you'd want to listen to a full album of me

I dunno there are always "weird voice guys / gals" & sometimes you learn to love them, sometimes you tolerate them & sometimes you don't. But we do have a lot of quirky ones this Tourney

Are you drinking it?!
Or just showing us the treasure?
(That's still cool, I'm not complaining, just asking)

Knife at a respectable 45% but looks like the upset I projected in my bracket isn't happening

So I guess I should ask now. If the Mercury Rev dude sang like Kermit's cousin Robin; and the Superchunk singer goes full Muppet as well...

How should we classify the vocals of The Knife? Arctic elf?

Wow. That cover is a jump scare.

I picked them as a bracket upset but I had listened to them in advance. I see you're in the same boat, but regretting it!

When I got to track 4 of Knife, "I Just Had to Die" I was about to give up. Surely I wasn't alone to think "I might just die if they keep this up"

& then somehow, from "I Take Time" (5) I started to find it interesting. And then I started to like it. Then I loved the closing songs. It was a journey

Ah, @onetrueposter.bsky.social I know I know a bunch of Boston songs, but I've never thought of them as being *that* important. They always seemed to me to be "another band" like ELO or Toto. Lots of hits, sure!

Your Unified Theory of Boston makes them epochal. Is this a commonly held opinion?

Had to look up the song because I couldn't place it; it didn't ring any bells. I wasn't in the States all '90; maybe I missed it?

It's precisely the type of "dumb hair metal" that I've found so hard to appreciate. It elicits an eye roll & a quick change of station from me

But this makes me think

Thanks for digging that up

I had no idea. Wow. His reaction is completely devastating.

Do you have to give it time? Sure. If you don't have time to read it all right now, that's fine, come back to it at your leisure

I wouldn't have thought I'd be up for that much Blink but here's the thing: @onetrueposter.bsky.social's DC is about a lot more than TAKE OFF. So get comfy, it's worth it

I don't have an emotional connection to Jenny and the Rilo Kileys; I listened to this for the first time as part of Tourney Prep. Initially the best I could muster was "well, it's not bad" but it grew on me over time

Looking ahead may not be prudent, but I'm curious about a R3 encounter with Dylan

I would posit that there is one good song when the dude sings, but it's not on this album. It's "Dreamworld" from UNDER THE BLACKLIGHT (it's a duo, but his vocal is the lead)

Absolutely incredible.

NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.

Watch with sound on.

Ah so I’m not exactly impressing with my reading comprehension skills. Oops. Yeah so who knows if it was good or bad that you didn’t have to sit thru a game 7…

That’s really cool that you were able to see a game that important in person! Damn that 1990-1992 run of near misses still breaks my heart to this day

Those were cool uniforms!

I think we had those as alternative jerseys one year not long ago

And hey! Let us have something nice for a change! It’s been a long 35 years with little to cheer about!😉

But didn’t you guys draft Dylan something or other? He was supposed to be a stud!

Our division is ridiculously bunched together

If your Reds are 14-8 already I shudder to think what they’re capable of with slightly better stats😬

On our end Ozuna and Griffin seem to be finding their footing at the plate. If they can hit consistently…

But we’re the Pirates; we could fall apart 🤷‍♂️

Good point about the possibility of generating a logjam of ties that way

It makes intuitive sense to me that without larger ballots, things like Tipsy & k. would have a hard time getting in

Since 199 of us voted, there would have been less than 2000 total noms - if limited to 10. With fewer votes, wouldn't we have have situations like things getting in with like 5 noms?

I nominated about 80 and they were all albums that I genuinely enjoyed & figured that they at least deserved a shot at getting in. I don't remember who it was, but someone nominated 128, creating their own bracket

I'm new, so I'm not the voice of authority but I don't think limiting is a good route

Oops, well, I applaud your taste in anime, though. I saw it for the first time on the big screen last year and I was just overwhelmed with all of the detail that you miss watching it on a screen at home

I have to say that your recommendations so far seem to be much more accessible and not (shudder) screamo sonic assaults. My eardrums appreciate it

OTP, I listened to OPERATION: MINDCRIME & I have to say that I'm impressed. Not saying that I'm going to put it on high rotation, but it goes really hard. Kind of like how The Coup's PARTY MUSIC seems so topical today, I'm blown away by it's lyrics: "As the one percent rules America"

SoaD's heroes?
