It’s a bit late for Hanami in Tokyo, it’s already all green everywhere 😛

When people use AI for writing assistance, it can shift their political attitudes by autocompleting sentences in biased ways.
Yet people are often unaware of the AI bias & it's influence
This is not merely about the facts presented, but how autocomplete worlds

Where can we save the high scores?

These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken.

NEWS: Massive budget cuts for US science proposed again by Trump administration
"It's an extinction-level event for science".
This would decimate the world's leading scientific system, from NASA to NIH, and eliminate social, economic and behavioral science at NSF

This is really depressing
So many of those people live in an alternative reality with absolutely no basis in actual facts or research, and they’re getting more and more violent in Japan
And of course, they always ask for foreign fascist influence to take over their country
Depressing
The United States has directed every American embassy and consulate across the world to launch coordinated campaigns against foreign propaganda and endorses Elon Musk's X as an "innovative" tool to help do it.
X is now literally a propaganda unit of the US government. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
Just discovered /r/bereserklejerk
Scary article ngl
I’m not sure how Japanese society can survive being controlled by far right propagandists while being on such a big economic and demographic downturn, since their policies will just make things worse
All I got to say is that Oscar Piastri led 100% of the race laps he finished this year
Speaking French is extremely easy for English speakers, about half of the vocabulary has common roots and pronunciation is relatively coherent
Writing it well is much harder
But I don’t think it’s that bad to mandate people in power have some semblance of competence at an easy skill
I came out of your video just comforted in my idea he’s a moron loved by morons
Really?
Since my wife has become a sumo super fan she has stopped telling me I was fat so I’ll take that as a win

One surprising perk of LLM-driven coding: I can iterate on bugs in my codebase from my phone while my son takes a nap on me
The other possibility would be you having been late on taxes but I guess that’s not the case?
It feels extremely harsh either ways tbh, you’re the poster child for immigration
Oh wow, I’m extremely surprised. All the engineers I know got it pretty easily with less time spent in Japan and a smaller salary.
I guess this is a consequence of the new policies and general political climate, which really sucks. If you don’t deserve PR, who the fuck does lol
Il doit être tendu, ce bras droit
Will AI become a confirmation bias machine?
AI can be a powerful tool for truth-seeking. Yet, people might prefer to use AI to confirm their pre-existing beliefs, and features of AI systems (eg sycophancy) may make AI effective at justifying what people want to believe.

Well honestly since early this year all the craziness is unfortunately becoming par for the course.
I think it’s reasonable to expect that part of it has been priced in over the past few months.
Real returns for US stocks this year are at -3.7% already, while the rest of the world is at +3%
Tbh single day noise is not really representative of anything, and the Dow Jones Industrial is a fraction of the whole stock market
MSCI world is down on the month
Plus stock prices are expectations of future returns, normally not *that* affected by short term events
