This is amazing, and our friends at the Internet archive are amazing.

We rightly spend a lot of time talking about how our representatives are (because they represent Trump) irrational/untrustworthy actors. But there’s also a strong possibility that the people making decisions in Iran are far more antagonistic than 2 months ago, & may even be a bit nihilistic.

Because @whstancil.bsky.social offhand commented about it, the entire we site has to polarize into Very Strong Opinons On The Matter.

It has seemed a lot better until today when it became very slow to unresponsive.

I read last night that they definitively said they weren’t going to be there because of Trump’s “excessive demands” but 8 hours is an eternity these days.

My timeline is full of it and it is extremely tiresome. It’s virtue signaling (derogatory) in the extreme. They’re not telling us what good people they are, they’re using other people’s race to justify their constant rage farming.

I’ve seen the same pile on On Here when people not named Hasan have said “I knew it would be bad, but i did not have X on my bingo card” where X is “tear down the east wing of the White House” or “rename the Gulf of Mexico” or any number of things Black Women(tm) supposedly predicted in detail.

SLAPP (for the uninitiated):
Strategic
Lawsuit
Against
Public
Participation

A lawsuit filed to shut you up and bleed you dry for saying something the plaintiff didn’t like. Many states have laws punishing that behavior, but the federal government does not.

I doubt it will get as far as discovery, but this is exactly why we need a federal anti-SLAPP law and it needs to be carefully crafted to especially punish SLAPP suits that can’t be defended because the plaintiff can assert state secrets (or congressional immunity, etc.)

I don’t know if they’ll be able to achieve it, but if anybody can, it’s them. If they succeed, they’ll obviate zillion-dollar 1980s Patriot missiles with much cheaper, nimbler alternatives, and that’s good for everyone.

Kash Patel's lawsuit against The Atlantic has been filed.

All else aside, it confirms this: Kash Patel was locked out of the FBI system on Friday, April 10.

The lockout set off a flurry of inquires to the FBI/DOJ/WH about whether Patel had been fired.

And members of Congress have to be bound by that law as well. No “speech and debate clause” immunity for filing SLAPP suits.

This will go nowhere, but stopping it is not enough. These people should be monetarily punished for filing frivolous lawsuits. They should be forced to pay 10% of whatever they’re demanding plus attorneys fees and court costs. We need a federal anti-SLAPP law in January of 2027. @neguse.house.gov

A federal anti-SLAPP law has to be one of the reforms we push through right away.

Why is it SCOTUS likes picking on Colorado so much?

This is likely to be the third major policy SCOTUS will overturn in CO in the past few months.

It’s an article of faith in the Republican Party that the New Deal prolonged the depression and the only thing that snapped us out if it was the war. That been true as long as I’ve been involved in politics. Kevin’s citing a 2007 rebuttal here. It’s as old as the hills.

House Republicans keep trying to change the name of their budget bill — but it won’t change the fact that their legislation enacted the largest cut to food assistance for working Americans in history.

My condo building is still full of work-from-homers who are all getting extremely overweight and unhealthy. One of my neighbors has gained at least 200 lbs and has an ass that's shaped like a cube because that's the shape of the chair he sits in all day.

Adobe was barely a factor until Quark just unilaterally quit competing.

Quark had 96% of the professional prepress market and the ownership decided to pick a fight with Steve Jobs instead of updating it for MacOS X and the rest is history.

Seeing as you've completely missed the point and have addressed nothing I have said directly and all you post is links to AI slop I'm going to assume you're a bot. Bye.

I guarantee I will be employed in 5 years. You think Claude is going to fix your tube amp or restore your Rhodes Piano?

Management agreed that engineers were monkeys 20 years ago and laid us all off, and imploded the company. RIP Quark.

And you know what? My code won Macworld UK. Their marketing sold zero copies of software to an industry that was salivating for it because they brilliantly priced it at $10,000 per seat. Oh well!

And wanted me to fix their e-mail in my copious spare time LOL

2 days ago 1 0 1 0

LOL none of that concerned me and I did not in fact have anything to say about it. Dumb marketing bozos however think we can snap our fingers and produce a bug-free release in no time with no effort, with no budget, and with no QA.

Teddy Roosevelt was not president in 1936. Teddy Roosevelt was not a Democrat. 1936 was not 100 years ago, 1926 was. I can go on but I'm bored already.
