Word Story: Bludgeon - Right Touch Editing A "bludgeon" is defined as “a heavy, short club that is thicker at one end or is weighted at one end.” It's a good alternative for "club."

Word of the day: bludgeon

A heavy club weighted at one end. The word sounds like what it does—forceful in the middle, trailing off at the end.

No one knows its etymology, but it shares that -udgeon ending with curmudgeon and dudgeon.
