More theater every day
I agree with saturation and lack of dark grittiness. But as a game artist, I am not sure I can agree with DaI and Da2 having better art, even tho I love those games.
I've lowered the saturation settings a bit on my end. That helped.
I find that DA changes their art style to fit the mood of the narrative, to me that's a big piece of the puzzle that creates this type of disconnect.
Art style and tech constraints go hand in hand. Personally I really don't think Veilguard would have even came out if they went hyper realistic.
Artist's portfolio, it is gorgeous. And again it echoes certain elements from original DA cards.
With the amount of character customization the game has especially body types and faces, stylization allows for more freedom.
As a DA fan, sure I have my complaints. But going stylized have allowed them to actually do better and cooler things with clothing. A more angular shape language is closer to the original tarot cards.
Stylization on faces is beautiful as well, SSS in game blures it, but looking at the sculpting in
Yessss, so exciting! Blender and unreal are such a powerful duo too
