That's the thing about Sonic that draws so many people to him, I think. It doesn't matter how much you color in the margins, the core of his character and his message stay the same regardless of the details. You're still playing as Mr. Needlemouse, protecting the little guy and expressing freedom.

Silly blue hedgehog against the Egg shaped machine boy surely doesn't need such an involved political theater, sure, but from a blue hedgehog's perspective, almost nothing has changed. Robots lose an egg-theme, but he's still out there saving folks and bashing 'bots. He remains constant.

What I'm saying is that should there ever come a time where Eggman is truly defeated, G.U.N. would find themselves unchecked on the world stage and Sonic potentially finding himself the target of a much more multifaceted opponent.

Resistance HQ wouldn't even need a rebrand. Just a refocus.

Who actually runs G.U.N.? Do they answer to a U.N.-like entity? Are they essentially some para-military, or something like Outer Heaven? Do they answer to a World Government ala One Piece?
