As AI evolves, I will continue to update the reading list. If you have suggestions, such as key topics, papers, or materials I might have overlooked, I welcome your input. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

In the list, I try to cover a range of topics and include academic papers, industry white papers, policy documents, and even social media posts. I developed this course in the spring and plan to offer it in future semesters.

This semester, I have been teaching an AI and Society class. As the name suggests, the goal is to explore the transformative impact of AI, particularly LLMs and AI agents, on society. This is a seminar class, and here is the reading list: yangkclab.github.io/ai-and-socie...

If your code skills require user input at some point, explicitly require it by using the "AskUserQuestions" tools in skills.md, which would trigger the confirmation dialog shown below every time.
Then you can review the scored list in a Streamlit app and assign your own final ranking. In my case, it scored 700+ papers in under 3 minutes with 20 workers using gpt-4.1-mini (requires an OpenAI API key). Results are pretty good.

If you are reviewing for IC2S2 and it gives you a headache from reading all 700+ paper titles/abstracts while bidding, I just built a tool for it. It uses an LLM to score how relevant each paper is to your research interests (you can define a list of keywords).

Our latest paper in @science.org warns about malicious AI swarms, agents capable of adaptive influence campaigns at scale. We already observed some in the wild (picture). AI is a real threat to democracy.

Can LLMs with reasoning + web search reliably fact-check political claims?
We evaluated 15 models from OpenAI, Google, Meta, and DeepSeek on 6,000+ PolitiFact claims (2007โ2024).
Short answer: Not reliablyโunless you give them curated evidence.
