The water god stands, her hair caressing and framing the page. Seaweed and stars frame the corners. Her eyes are closed "My child. How may I help?" Our protagonist, with pain on his face declares "I want to be a real forest spirit!" She smiles at him "Your heart is already there. But are you ready for the hardships to come?" He stands confident and determined, hand on his chest "I am. I'll do whatever it takes"

When talking to students, lettering is the #1 thing I give feedback on - text is such a big part of most comics! Use it to its full effect!!

We see our protagonist swimming with desperation. He arrives at his destination "I'm here to see the water god!" A water spirit replies "There's a waitlist, come back next month" He looks upset "That's so unfair!" "Sorry, can't help it" is all he gets in response We then have 4 panels of him dissociating and crying. The colours are dull and dark We see another panel of him swimming, slower and sadder. He thinks to himself "it's been a month now... please" The water spirit from before has a smile on her face "The water god will see you now"

You're not going to be able to draw everything perfectly in your comic, ur gonna have weird looking cars or buildings, or hands- And i want you to know that's fine
Readers spend seconds per panel- as long as things are clear narratively, keep going! Dont get stuck on making every panel a masterpiece

The woman responds with an expression as if our protagonist is just joking around. "Trapped? Don't be silly. You belong here in the water!" She turns around and leaves with a friendly smile "See ya!" Our protagonist stares forward, the words "You belong here in the water" slowly crushing him, as the colour red grows. In the final panel he's trying to break out of the panel, panic clear on his face, and tears flying. "I JUST CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE!"

We didn't need a Nazi salute to prove that this was the correct decision but it does re-enforce it. We did lose a huge potential audience when we stopped posting on Twitter/X though so please do keep spreading the word about our approach to comics coverage and our hard-working little team!

A water spirit looks longingly at a group of forest spirits "Don't you ever wish you could be one of them?" He asks. Another water spirit sits with him "Hm? The forest spirits?" She asks. She grins "Nah, I'm happy as I am!" He looks over nervously "You dont feel..." The final panel is of him underwater, its dark and kelp holds him down like chains. "TRAPPED?" is written in bold red letters behind him, finishing the question he asked.

I wish Veilguard had taken the same route, they could have done some really interesting things with the combination of sexualities and trans characters

Thats really impressive to play it so many times omg, but oh man his story is just so good?? Giving characters set sexualities was such a Great decision
