Find Savings to Fund UK’s Digital ID Plan, Labour Ministers Told

Find Savings to Fund UK’s Digital ID Plan, Labour Ministers Told

This confirms our worst fears.

Labour want to divert taxpayers money from our public services to pay for their mandatory Digital ID scheme.

The Lib Dems fought against Labour’s ID plans before and won, and we can do it again.

As a council, Richmond has done all it can to support survivors of VAWG. But during these 16 Days of Activism, we’re reminded how much more we must do to prevent it, from helping parents tackle online misogyny to enabling safe intervention. We will keep working to stop VAWG.

The Government’s failure to support our high streets is a stealth tax on small businesses. Pubs, hospitality venues & shops are being pushed to breaking point. We need to back our high streets with fair business rates and real support, not squeeze them further.

Richmond’s White Ribbon Champion urges residents to ‘speak up’ during 16 days of activism Councillor Katie Mansfield highlights Richmond's commitment to end gender-based violence during the 16 Days of Activism.

To create change and stop violence against women and girls, we must all challenge ourselves to call out misogyny, whether in our homes, our schools, our workplaces, online or our streets.

A clear indication that the right wing rhetoric has shifted the narrative. Nigel Farage thinks it’s ok to only clarify ‘I’ve never DIRECTLY racially abused anyone’ and still be a candidate for prime minister.

The ECHR guarantees the right to life and a fair trial. It protects freedom of speech. It prohibits torture, slavery, and discrimination. Reform want to get rid of it. Relieved that the @libdems.org.uk protected it in parliament yesterday.

The community in St Margaret’s got together for some fun events today to support the Moormead Pavilion. Moormead Park is like our communal garden and we need toilets and space for sports teams and schools that use the space. Thanks to @munirawilson.bsky.social for joining.

Today is the FINAL day to object to the damaging #TDRA plans.

These plans threaten our river’s biodiversity and better alternatives haven’t even been properly considered.

If you object, email your objection to TDRA@ipsos.com (include your name + postcode).

I worked with Janet at the DfE - she was my fellow policy adviser (supporting Lib Dem ministers). She was brilliant and cares more about local government than anyone I've ever met so if you happen to live in her ward do vote for her.

Mayor backs Lib Dem call for compensation for taxi drivers amid licensing crisis - London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com The Mayor backs the Lib Dem call for compensation for taxi drivers facing hardship amid the licensing crisis in London.

Good to see the Mayor finally recognise this as the right thing to do for Londoners whose livelihoods have been put on hold, and lives thrown into chaos.

And a big win for the London Liberal Democrats on the GLA who have kept up the fight on this.

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate progress, but also to reflect on how we can make women safer and amplify their voices. Together, we can take action to end violence against women and girls. #vawg #whiteribbon #accelerateaction

Definitely worth a read to grasp the sheer scale and danger of Musk’s influence. It’s alarming how an unelected individual can gain such power over institutions that should be better protected from outside control.

Great to partner with the RFU and Met Police on our @whiteribbonuk.bsky.social work. Standing up, speaking out, and showing that working together we can change the culture that lets violence against women and girls happen. We all need to call it out and stop #vawg

This is such a pity. I understand the owners are doing it as part of the development but I really hope that they make sure it remains free and available to us public.

A third runway at Heathrow would worsen air quality and noise pollution for thousands in London - while increasing carbon emissions globally. @teamlabouruk.bsky.social should prioritise sustainable infrastructure projects that boost the economy without harming the planet youtube.com/watch?v=jsnV...

A third runway at Heathrow would be bad for the environment, bad for local communities & bad for the UK’s ambitious climate goals. I’ve joined four Lib Dem colleagues to write to Transport Secretary @heidialexander.bsky.social asking the Gvt to reject these proposals once and for all.

We cannot change the past or undo the atrocities of the Holocaust, but we must learn from it. Survivors warn how it crept up—discrimination, powerful rhetoric, dehumanisation, then murder. Never forget, always act. #NeverAgain #HolocaustMemorialDay #WeRemember

Great speaking to #Alperton residents today! It’s clear Charlie Clinton is needed to tackle fly-tipping like this and ensure the money raised from new developments funds proper infrastructure for locals. Vote @libdems.org.uk on 18 Feb to make it happen!
