Making hands explode? You ain't Toki!

Ogura was just as deeply involved in all of the minute details for the novel (which was mostly just ported over to the anime). The attention to detail he showcased so that continuity/plausibility still existed is astounding. Even the orbital charts they used were based on Nagase's settings.
I think one of the fascinating things from the Unicorn production side (novel & anime) is just how much of it was repurposed conceptual design work from Nagase. Ogura leaned heavily on a lot of the Zeta material, from the conceptual to design stages. But, ya know, it's always all Fukui's fault.
My three current sketchbooks: 11x8 for location drawing, 11x14 for human and dinosaur anatomy studies, 4x6 Secret Spy Notebook.
Somehow I found myself maintaining three differently sized notebooks at the same time. I have a sudden impulse to draw lots of dogs...
Tomino: SF-style movies and anime are mostly pretty boring, aren't they? I can tolerate the first Star Wars, but before that, basically all SF movies were quite dull, whether they were anime or live-action.

I officially own something that contains the GOAT
A really great book on dinosaur drawing! Get 'em while you can!
Also, this scene from ZZ #35 which makes use of "Reunion", is very sweet and memorable.
I wonder if someone asks Kamimura about it, if they would remember it?
I also reall enjoy this piece: "Reunion."

Head studies from various angles, based on Mark Simon's "Facial Expressions: A Visual Reference for Artists."
There were some videos I had to watch, and I'm working on another figure drawing tip sheet, so I figured I'd do a few pages of head studies from @storyboarder.bsky.social 's "Facial Expressions" photo catalog while I was organizing my thoughts.
Scenes from the epilogue of "Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin" episode VI.
The animated "Origin" ends with the White Base launching into space, and we see Captain Paolo and the original blue-uniformed bridge crew. These guys presumably die offscreen at the start of "First Gundam," but they all get individual names in the setting material. (14)
To bid farewell to U.C. 0093, @toysdream.bsky.social and @zeonicscans.bsky.social return to the pod to talk about Beltorchika’s Children! Much fun is had in this nearly 3-hour discussion! Big thanks to @nkmds.bsky.social, who generously read some unhinged Tomino prose! Become a patron to listen!
This Saturday’s random game is Bomberman for the PC Engine (1990).
It also comes with an advertisement for a live action, dramatic(?) retelling of the Bomberman story.

Regarding the influence of Star Wars on (First) Gundam.
Tomino: . . .And I particulary like the U.S film Destination Moon. It's depiction of space did influence me; it's where I got my feeling for space conditions from. It's very outdated now, but it was revolutionary at the time.

A dramatic drawing of Char Aznable looking at the viewer while Garma Zabi looks to the distance, black and white manga style from a vintage Gundam yaoi doujinshi from 1979, dated and signed by "Marino"
As my trip is wrapping up soon, I have been editing files on my MEGA for Mad Angler Press' official 300th web release. Enjoy a very dramatic Charma piece by Marino, a member of Corporation Shameless who created these portraits for their Winter Comiket release in 1979! Personal collection.
