Don't be obtuse.

Yeah, but participating in movements has also shown me that only a percentage of participants are really there for the cause. I know some Boomers were the real deal. Some just liked getting laid, or followed their friends, or were using it as an outlet for their own anger.

The idea that something "happened" to Boomers, that they fell victim to some change that could befall the Zoomers one day, is kinda untrue. The Boomers were always like this, it's just that what they needed to do to keep the focus on themselves changed over time.

The other thing is, the "faults" of the Boomers and Xers were, by and large, baked in from the get-go. Boomers act like they started off liberal and grew conservative, but they actually started off selfish and being catered to in a historically-unusual way, and they stuck with that.

The Boomers entire ethos was selfishness.
Gen X's entire ethos was never caring about anything.

Both those things led to conservatism, but they are not inevitabilities and not every generation revolves around those things.

Among disadvantaged populations, sure. But among white Boomers, they considered their youthful dalliances to be "job done," and went on to elect Reagan in a landslide. They'd already shed all of their ideals by the time their kids came along.

The Boomers used their youth and the size of their generation as a source of power and changed things to focus on them.

When the Millennials came along, an echo of their youth and size, they used that youth to permanently infantilize Millennials and keep the focus on themselves.

It’s an especially bad idea to do it when people sometimes have *extremely* deeply felt reasons for not voting. Even when you think those reasons are precisely why they SHOULD vote!

Completely tossed at the official conan the barbarian website’s cookie notification window.

Yeah, word on the street is that he subscribed to an "anti-AI" blocklist, which I vaguely remember being added to a few weeks back when I liked a post making fun of GenAI slop. But because he maintains several feeds, he's effectively bricked those feeds by blocking a bunch of people.

Okay, trying to catch up, here: there's someone named Why, who works at Bluesky, and he's blocking a whole bunch of us (including me, apparently) and this is breaking site functionality for a lot of people?

Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.
