probably my favourite 2d Zelda
happy 11th birthday to this guy
they’re as good a frog as you can ask for on the nes. the same level has some really awesome slime dudes too. the whole thing has real scooby doo vibes (complimentary)

the alucard route has really cool looking frog enemies that I can’t find a good picture of online but you’ll have to trust me.
for sure the strongest of the nes castlevanias. i was pretty fatigued by the end because it felt like the only point of some sections was to make to get stuck and make the whole thing take longer. still really want to at least mess with the alucard route and english version.
beat castlevania iii* for the nintendo entertainment system**
* akumajō densetsu
** the shitty emulator on my ayn thor
getting the thor set up i can into a lot of cases where i was settling for the second or third best option, because what seemed like the best option only exists for android as a retroarch core. really reminds me of the way discord has made information much harder to find by locking it all on severs.
suck that if you try and look up anything about emulation these days you just see a bunch of people recommending retroarch. thank you but i have morals and standards.
yeah it’s awesome

already done it boss. you live on an island with 2b and a moogle.
on the 50th anniversary of the release of The Boys Are Back in Town I'm morally obligated to share my favorite story of all time
he would digivolve into the mum
castlevania iii: dracula’s curse
oh shit. you ok?
had to repost this because bluesky added a weird fake embedded link to the post that didn’t go anywhere. terrible website. will take the opportunity to wonder why they did that to poor grant in the western release.
castlevania iii fucking rules. the levels are just so much cooler this time around. the jp version is my preference again for better game feel and much, much better music.
Bunch o' Birdbrain
A digital "charcoal" drawing on golden paper. It's a scratchy slightly crude style. Three figures lie with white gowns and gold jewelry. A long sword rests across their throats. At their feet are scattered Treasures. A massive decrepit hand reaches down from above towards them. Hand drawn text reads "In the black wind the stars shall die"
Tom Bombadillo
Digital illustration of Saruman inside his tower, wearing a rainbow glitter bucket hat, backpack and robe. He is holding up an exercise book containing rainbow stickers, drawings of rings and scribbles of his name with a magic S. A speech bubble reads, “The white page may be overwritten!”
listen to Shelved By Genre and you too can be consumed with thoughts of Lisa Frank Saruman @rangedtouch.bsky.social
ate a succulent chinese meal and now i’m too full. this really is democracy manifest. . .
i have caught and compromised to a permanent end, count dracula (finished simon’s quest)
it’s definitely the way it’s overworld is structured. it’s so forward thinking and anticipatory of games like symphony of the night (obviously) and less directly but pretty clearly dark souls. it’s also interesting how it’s in conversation the nes zeldas, especially adventure of link.
i have completed simon’s quest. i’m glad i played it, but i do feel a little bit like i’ve stared into the abyss (a game designed for the us rental market).
damn
simon’s quest
simon’s quest, huh? i can’t bring myself to just say ‘this sucks’ because it’s very cool in many ways. it does kind of suck though.
