"Passengers wishing to leave the train at the next station must move forward from this part of the train" declares the automated announcement in the front carriage as we arrive at the terminus. A metaphor for something, probably.

A deeply moving moment, uniting us in a deep sense of our common humanity, the height of our achievement, and our shared goals for future endeavour, as we remember that tomorrow is the start of cricket's county championship season.

Thoroughly excited about Artemis II launch, getting 'It would be unwise to stay up for the first ball of the Ashes but I think I'm going to anyway' vibes.

Incidentally I saw a space launch in person once, unmanned satellites but was still fairly mind-blowing.

The Quiet Revival thing has me utterly unsurprised. It always felt like there had been a lack of critical thinking in response to the YouGov figures.

Given what Jesus told us about his search for the one, single, small sheep, it's amazing how often the church loses its head in big numbers.

Had literally never thought of it before but the more I think about, the more I think having all those stalls surely must have steered any sense of calling in a very particular direction.

"Living for Jesus" always meant dramatic life change. Even going overseas. It rarely meant carrying on in the humdrum, going to college, doing a job, being a parent. We spent the time celebrating Paul the evangelist, not Paul the tentmaker. No wonder many from that generation are now burnt out. 3/3

I have memories of sitting in a big tent being told to change the world for Jesus and then immediately being sent to browse a (presumably) curated selection of stalls all trying to get me to volunteer for amazing projects. 2/3

Been reflecting on this conversation, and @lucysixsmith.bsky.social's book in general. I wonder, does anyone else remember the jobs/volunteering stalls at Soul Survivor. A big room full of opportunities to go and be history makers. 1/3

Greg James seems a lovely chap, a cracking role model, and an all round very good thing. If we're going to have celebrities, they should be like him.

Also they should all feel about cricket like he does.

We are pressing onwards with introducing the kids to Narnia, and thus this evening I read one of favourite opening lines of all: "There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it”.

It hasn't (and I can't believe I'm saying this, and I appreciate there's still time, and some people might accuse me of 'tempting fate' but since that doesn't mesh with my worldview I don't mind too much, much as I'd love to think what I type on here has that kind of power) rained today so far.
