For the curious the original Masters of Umdaar was a 56 pages. The final product here will be a standalone Fate game that is 460 pages. So the original concept is greatly, greatly expanded. This free preview includes character gen plus the Table of Contents so you can see what's coming out in June.

FUNNIEST POSSIBLE REASON
a futuristic city district with a sign for a bath house, a billboard that says 'sex while you wait' with a woman posing on it, a vertical neon green sign (no idea what it says) and in the middle the entrance to madame (something)'s slutopia with two neon pink hearts on either side and the silhouette of a four(?) armed creature above. the walls of the environment are metallic and pipe heavy.

i fully laughed out loud. forever fond of when @hebanongames.bsky.social was on a pod about playtesting where he talked about playtest feedback on a scenario for a superhero game where someone asked "why do we have to be superheroes?"
Victorian London is a labyrinth of twisting alleys, stifling expectations, & cruel institutions. The poor starve in the gutters; the powerful sneer from on high. And on the margins, queer monsters whose lives & loves defy society & the law share fraught intimacy & build community as best they can.
hi can I interest you in a blessed paradise whose hunger only sacrifice can appease? a desperate community insisting on ancient tradition & terrible necessity? a game played without dice or a GM, driven by a bloody oracle deck & a biting token economy?
anyway if you like the wicker man play HARVEST

it's a fascinating analysis!! i really like the takeaway that FATE was one game (or one big interoperable box of parts) that took extra work to turn into what a table might want, while PbtA succeeds by being lots of entirely separate experiences that are each tightly themed.
ah, seems to be this thread, thanks!

i'd be *super* curious if anyone could dig that up!
same!!
has anyone written anything as a sort of post-mortem on why you don't really see FATE anymore? it's fascinating to see how much more lively the PbtA sphere is than this other movement from right around the same time
