I neglected trans rights which this government has also failed abjectly. But my assessment is still that they're not as bad. Thoroughly depressing.

Although very grim on asylum seekers and Palestine, I have to disagree. The previous 5 governments were all arguably worse overall and no better on those two issues (with the possible exception of Cameron). Sunak, Truss, Johnson, May, Cameron.
When considering whether a profession is overpaid ask yourself these two questions. Could I do it? Would I do it?
fundamentally the problem is that if you think "hotels are where I stay on holiday and I like being on holiday so living in a hotel must be fun and it's not fair others get to do it and not me" then you have the intellectual reasoning of a little child and it's going to be hard to engage with you
Can you imagine a US envoy handing a Nazi medal to the family of an American who died fighting for Hitler? Because this just happened:

Not even 9am. So far on Radio 6, the news bulletins have featured a mother saying her daughters aren't safe because of asylum seekers, a Tory politician lambasting Labour for crossing numbers & Badenoch encouraging councils to lodge legal challenges against hotels. An endless stream of hateful bile.
In many ways this is worse than the output on radio 4 because it's the politically disengaged who are drifting towards fascism that you need to worry about.
This is all becoming very dangerous and the Government's failure to show any kind of resistance to it is a disgrace www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...
I was going to reply "it's the money" but I checked and it probably isn't. Senators get paid a bit more than MPs but net worth is a bit lower.
Somebody should inform Paul Kagame of this truism.
The Mansfield supporters certainly didn't seem very intimidated.
The government continues to use as its primary social media platform the one most responsible for introducing children to porn, not to mention fascism and all that

US Christian conservative groups like ADF - who helped overturn Roe v Wade - are now targeting the UK.
We’ve been watching their rise for some time. US interference in British law is alarming, and we must resist these attempts to roll back rights.

It would of course be trivially easy for the press and his political opponents to make this sort of action unthinkable for a mainstream politician, by the simple act of noticing all the violent Neo-Nazis attending these rallies and making Jenrick accountable for that. Alas...
So, I stole £100.17 from you and have been punching you repeatedly in the face in the hope of extracting more money from you. But my arm is getting tired and also you kicking me in the nuts is bugging.
How about we sign a truce and in exchange for a further £30 I'll give you these 17 shiny pennies?
Robert Jenrick, the Tory Shadow Justice Secretary and former Home Office Minister, joining protesters outside an asylum hotel is one of the most disgusting acts by a frontline British politician in living memory.

Any news source that repeats the claim that Trump is really thinking about "very severe consequences for Russia" as if it's credible can't be taken seriously in their reporting on Trump-Russia (despite the many excellent journalists that work for, e.g. the BBC and the Guardian).
