Photograph of a sculpture against a light grey background. The sculpture is a brown-grey thorn branch twisting away from the camera, with some green leaves at the far end. In the middle the twist turns up a bit, and supports a Strawberry Bird - which is a bright red and yellow bird with green leaves at the back that is a strawberry. Some seeds in the front form a mouth with disturbingly bitey chompers.

A Curious Caution - made with cosclay, a lot of wire, and patience.

Created for Beinart Gallery's "Cabinet of Curiosities"- which is on view now!

Art by Jana Schirmer. A beautiful, tough looking guy with a leather jacket, painted nails and a moth neck-tattoo. His hands are typing on an invisible keyboard while he says, “Tell them to prompt until they generate someone who gives a shit.”

My daughter and I did 2HG at the Stryxhaven prerelease yesterday, and that is still my absolutely favorite way to experience a prerelease.

Also, this set is super fun! We went 1-2, but still had a great time.

A large white waterfowl with orange feet stands in front of a door. On the door is a cardboard sign secured with tape that reads, "DO NOT LET THE DUCK IN."

Adding insult to injury, I think the duck might be a goose.

If they allow him another appointment, I will be very sad. McConnell demonstrated you really don’t have to do it if you don’t feel like it.

What is the deal with so many Invincible fans “remaking” scenes from the show (I’m guessing with AI?) with some holier-than-thou attitude around the animation quality?

It is so freaking weird.

In this digital illustration, three baby dragons are sheltered from rain by their gigantic mama dragon. They are on a rooftop in front of a cityscape. The babies gaze up at their mom, smiling.

“It’s a couple of things that work beautifully in concert. First: no music. Audiences are so sophisticated, but what they’re not accustomed to is not being told how to feel,” Wyle says. “You take all that out and it forces a level of engagement where you’re now looking for clues within the frame of the screen, which forces you to look up from your phone. And I think that is extremely engaging, especially to young viewers who aren’t accustomed to being asked to participate in a nonpassive way in the viewing experience.

“Second point, shooting it with almost exclusively 50-millimeter or 65-millimeter lenses, which is the most comparable to the human eye—and only shooting from the point of view of a human being that’s present in this space. There are no cameras on gurney wheels going in the hallway. There’s no cameras on the ceiling looking down from a God point of view. You are limited to the perspective of a participant. You can look away, but you can’t leave, and it becomes an endurance test for you to stay on your feet as long as we’re on our feet. Which [brings me to my] third point: real time. Real time has an aggregate sense of tension that you don’t get in any other form of storytelling. What happened before is happening now, and these two things are going to add up to the next thing. And if we throw more ingredients into this cooker and keep ratcheting it up, it’s going to pop.”

Wyle makes eye contact for his next point, delivering it with a Robby-esque matter-of-factness. “Fourth point: The election went the other way,” he says with a shrug. “We could have been a really good show with a lot of nice things to say in a perfectly normal Kamala Harris universe. And instead we became almost a beacon of hope and humanity in an alternative universe. But in the midst of that, fifth point—this is essentially competence porn. You’re watching really smart, dedicated people do what only they know how to do at a level that you don’t know how to do it, and you’re so fucking glad that they’re there doing it, and compartmentalizing their own stuff to put your broken pieces back together. You’re so reassured by knowing that there are people out there that laugh and joke and have the ability to lock in like that.”

Disney Layoffs Hit Marvel Studios Hard The Academy Award-winning artists behind some of Marvel's biggest hits are among the casualties from company wide staff reductions.

I know I'm wasting my time, but the AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY AI quote isn't real.
It appears to have originated with an account called "Discussing Fish" on Twitter, which linked to this real FORBES article to make it seem like there was a source, knowing that most people wouldn't actually click the link.

You can't mine at Yosemite. You can't mine at Yellowstone. You shouldn't be allowed to mine in the Boundary Waters.

Republicans are trying to sell out our most pristine waters to a foreign mining corporation.

A screenshot of a Hollywood Reporter politics news article. The headline reads, "Dave Chappelle Knocks Republican Party for “Weaponized” Transgender Jokes: “That’s Not What I Was Doing”" The subheadline states, "After being called out for transphobic jokes, the superstar comedian told NPR that Lauren Boebert and other Republicans are politicizing his humor." Below the text is a photo of Chappelle in a black tuxedo speaking at a podium, with a caption noting he is accepting the President's Award at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.

No, that's exactly what Chappelle was doing and it's why trans people criticized him for doing it.

I don’t really see a path for this, but when I see Sam Witwer talk about Star Wars with his whole heart the way he does, all I think is, “Man, I’d like to work with this guy someday.”

Passion is infectious. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, I’m just putting that out into the universe. You never know. ☺️

Here’s just ONE of the artists Marvel Studios let go today:

Wesley Burt, a brilliant veteran, one of the best in the industry. He made the viral Fantastic Four Valentine’s day card!

He was also pivotal for the look of many films and shows like for example Loki, Black Panther, Avengers and so on!

🎨 HIRING ARTIST 🎨

I'm a small visual novel developer looking to hire a character artist for a couple of dark romance/fantasy games. Looking for someone who wants to draw pretty murderous ladies in armor and spooky Eldritch forest gods! ⚔️

People who were on the pre-Google internet remember what a monumental achievement PageRank search was, and how even full-text search of a big corpus like the WaPo archives was more-or-less a solved problem... and then we just decided to turn away from all of that for... this... ?!
