This was entirely predictable and to be expected.

Despite that, there are things we can still do as a city to ensure the safety of not just our children, but all of our road users.

We need to build our roads so that safe speeds are what people naturally drive at.

I don't see the politics the same way. I think the thousands of transit riders would have supported a more aggressive plan, but we will never know because no one pushed for that.

I do like bus lanes going on but am not satisfied with baby steps toward a more livable city!

I’m disappointed the underwhelming pilot that came out of committee was made weaker though a poorly worded walk on motion that had no debate. Underhanded! Not how I want my councillor to work.

I cannot believe that @shawnmenard.bsky.social put forward a motion to make the pilot even weaker than as proposed! The extra hour was where the impacts could be really tested. You ripped that out! Shame on you!!!

I do hope staff have a good proposal on medium sized events. But I think the fact that there are so many such events leans towards a full 24/7 pilot.

I really hope @shawnmenard.bsky.social and team do the right thing and make the bus lane pilot include special events. Even better would be a 24/7 in each direction amendment, but you can you hope for so much....

Section of the city staff report for Bus Lanes on Bank Street that says "Ultimately, bus lane hours extending beyond these peak periods, and in the off-peak direction, are recommended, including during a greater number of Lansdowne events and on weekends."

It is unfortunate that even though the city staff running the study for Bank Street Bus Lanes agrees with us that bus lanes should be in effect longer, on weekends, should operate in both directions, and that they should be running on events is being stifled by a small minority of very loud voices.

It is going to be a meeting for the ages with both this and Bank bus lanes!!!
