Reinterprets Christianity and the Bible to align with political and cultural interests 5. Seeks political power to control government over religion, belief, and behavior 6. Abuses faith and law to consolidate power and wealth 7. Relies on false accusation, fear, division, and warfare to gain and hold power Liberation Theology 1. Rooted in the liberation of the wronged and justice for all 2. Affirms that God sides with the poor and wronged in their struggle 3. Loyalty to Christ’s vision of justice and the common good above nationalism 4. Reads the Bible through the perspective of liberation for the downtrodden 5. Challenges laws and bureaucracies that keep people poor or excluded 6. Stands with people pushed to the margins 7. Organizes people through empathy, faith, and persuasion to create change
