Wow, I literally just wrote yesterday about FDI entering the US to build out AI infrastructure as a 2025 trend, and then this was announced.
I just wrote about DeepSeek and its potential implications on the industry: aiproem.substack.com/p/chinas-dee...
I analyze the technical nuances of inference time computing, the strategic use of synthetic data, and the four critical constraints influencing AI training dynamics. This piece comprehensively explains how these factors reshape our approach to AI scalability. See link below
It has truly encapsulated the whole value chain of today’s industrialized technology production and, in a way, is similar to if we were to combine Nvidia and Google’s businesses in the U.S.
Huawei's businesses run from infrastructure to the cloud, even to the edge devices such as tel-communication devices, industrial digital power products, operating systems, and consumer devices such as phones, tablets, and smart automotive.
However, that does not minimize the strides companies like Huawei are making in every single touchpoint of this ecosystem. These Chinese big tech have this massive competitive advantage that is often overlooked, which is the ability to take learnings and resources from within the conglomerate.
To reiterate, what MANY experts I spoke to kept saying is that companies like Huawei (and Alibaba, for that matter - I wrote a deep dive on BABA) cannot be compared to their so-called American counterparts directly, or at least not so simply.
I spoke to current and ex-Huawei employees for this primer piece and referenced company information and public reports. Get in touch - I’m always open to connecting and learning! aiproem.substack.com/p/deep-dive-...
Hi! My focus is on understanding the relationship between AI x energy and AI x big techs.
I started my career covering tech for various publications, then worked for many big tech companies. Now, I am an independent researcher and writer, and aim to provide thoughtful insights.

3-months into regular substacking (is this a verb now?), I’m 1 subscription away from 200. Humbled & grateful. I’m about to hop on a plane to Shanghai to meet Chinese AI founders. Hopefully I'll be able bring some on-the-ground insights and juice for you all. aiproem.substack.com
