attended 'Pain Vessels II' art show in Chicago with @rant-casey.bsky.social and got to display the heart i made for them as an anniversary gift; paper maché construction, wrapped in my skin and painted with blood 🫀🩸

black and white and full of haze, artifacts in the photo create strange depth and obscur the forms so the subject drifts into appearance, emerges from the light. A feminine form mostly nude, anonymous, touches itself softly on the chest. Dark hair pinned against their throat by a thick leather collar forcing their chin up, jaw lifted, the small scrap of their mouth visible at the top edge of the photo is slightly open as though they are breathing in.

Black and white and drenched in a hazy grain, a feminine body appears out of the gray. The same body the same thick heavy collar snapping their hair and throat close, lifting their head up so they seem to swoon, eyes closed. With one hand they reach up and they touch the ring on the collar. Hook one finger through it and pull gently like testing a fence or touching a flower petal. Their little finger is lifted and their wrist is poised as though they are about to take a sip from a cup of tea.

It looks like winter
But not quite
Like November
Not autumn
Not winter
Something in-between

Sometimes I take a picture
That isn't like me
A strangers photo
Except I did take it
So it is me

What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives; who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves?

Honestly i kinda backed into it - tattooed more and then that made me draw more and WANT to draw more. Maybe just practicing tattooing without the pressure of drawing everything would help?
