for Slime 64 we really had to work to cram all our buttons into a layout that works on KBM - I test in editor on KBM and most importantly for KBM users offering key rebinds is the BEST
the game plays best if you have a thumb button on your mouse, but naturally can't assume that for players ๐
I loved FRANKEN for basically being a puzzle exploration game disguised as an RPG, while using its RPG trappings to great narrative effect

I think I'm gonna make his eyes do a X_X and then like a quarter second later he explodes and right during the explosion particle I close the game

Realistically I find I only play games I can do in short bursts. Games that are like 2-4hrs to beat are perfect bc I can either play them throughout a week or knock them out in one or two bigger sessions.
Tens or Hundreds of hours isn't a *negative* but with where I'm at it means I won't touch it
Per the recommendation (and viewing pleasure) of my friend @waveparadigm.com, I started playing a newer indie 3D platformer called Mr. Sleepy Man last night.
This game is an absolute fever dream (affectionate).
Love that ledge grab! What's your approach to detecting that state? Wall in front and a cast from above/slightly in front of the player hitting a walkable surface?
Best I've done is like 70M - finding it suuuuper difficult ๐
also unfortunately the strobe speed of the lava on death feels really unpleasant to my eyes and I don't even have a particular photosensitivity
I wonder if bc my phone is 90hz?
@geoffkeene.bsky.social so like any old Thursday night I was playing The Dead Linger on Steam today and in making it to the end of the world saw a strange monolith in the distance
made my way over and it was absolutely worth the trip
long water tower says hello
the alternative (actually tilting the stage) would be a nightmare - if you rotated it by some central axis the ball would go flying as you got farther away from the origin. If the axis moved with you you'd have to constantly recalculate everything every frame
plus replays show the stage not tilting
This is an unbelievable deal on an excellent game.
god this looks SO GOOD - what's your vertex painting tool of choice?
It's been incredible to see the reception to Mr. Sleepy Man so far - the one curse of getting to playtest the game over the past year has been keeping my mouth shut about how excellent it is!!!

I adored Jenny LeClue
"you need to learn how to use gAI or you'll get left behind!"
counterpoint!
the absolute fastest way to render yourself unemployable is to build your skillset around a tool that does your thinking for you, that everyone has access to, and that one company can change or take away at any time
admittedly the ending of LOVE ETERNAL has me feeling all sorts of conflicted emotions
and the difficulty curve felt a bit All Over The Place at times
but I will be thinking about it for a long time, which makes it good art. easy recommend.

oh good LORD wishing you a speedy recovery!!
Check out Junkster!! Really charming comic aesthetic 3D puzzle platformer that seriously impressed me - store.steampowered.com/app/1675860/...
Looks wild! I would say the aggressive motion blur might still see the average player cry "Unreal Graphics!!" but I really like this look you have going
I NEVER EVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY
had the best Valentine's Day of my life yesterday ๐๐๐
getting increasingly stressed that I've only got a single lifetime to work on all my projects
Take 2 minutes of your time and watch "The Hyrule Fantasy", a lovely Zelda fan film by french animator Ousmane Cissรฉ.

Also on that note, Calico's got a ton more face-sprites now! ^^
@jumasoul-arts.bsky.social did a fantastic job putting these together, and thanks to @waveparadigm.com's technical expertise, we can mix and match the eyes and mouths in a whole bunch of ways!

BEFORE Calico in-engine, hunched over for his idle animation
AFTER Calico in-engine, now with a better posture for his idle animation (Also with a newly-drawn face-sprite)
I am happy to share that Calico finally saw a chiropractor and got his posture issues fixed.
Before -> After
