Good morning! it is snowing at the capitol, and I am here for my third CO March for Life.

Thank you, Alamosa Valley Courier, for furthering our reporting on ICE holdrooms across the state. Read their coverage of a meeting between Rep. Jeff Hurd and local immigration advocates who called on him to commit to visiting hold rooms and call for oversight:
And also that he may very well continue to help the Colorado GOP attempt to overturn our state's open primary system. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2023/08/even...
Is the music good? Yes.
Is the money bad? Also yes.
Rubinstein also notes that Peters may appeal this ruling to the CO Supreme Court, but if she doesn't: "I anticipate the trial court will issue a new sentencing order, *potentially affirming the prior sentence length*, with findings consistent with the appellate court's guidance."
Mesa County DA Dan Rubinstein's statement on the Colorado Court of Appeals ruling directing the trial judge to reconsider his sentence.
INBOX: Mesa County DA Dan Rubinstein, the Republican who prosecuted Tina Peters, notes that the "jury's verdicts... were affirmed in full" and that the court didn't find the sentence "excessive or inappropriate, but instead identified a narrow issue requiring reconsideration."
The data has been public for months, but @loganmdavis.bsky.social dug into it to pull stories out- weaving endless lines of numbers into paths on a map, searchable by age, country, and other factors. Know of an ICE arrest that made the news? See if you can find it in here.
The Monday after county assemblies was a particularly awkward time for the Colorado Republican Party's longtime website to not work. The party has a new site (colorado.gop), but for the old one not to point to it isn't good. It's now Tuesday and it's still broken.
Last week, Colorado Republican Party Chair Brita Horn announced that she will be resigning from her position. Horn’s announcement comes after months of infighting, lawsuits, the resignation of two vice chairs and two no-confidence votes.

ICE locks tens of thousands of detainees nationwide in a network of 170 "hold rooms" spread across 49 states, which are forbidden from containing beds.
Today, we are publishing location and detainee information about all 170 facilities.

Recent public reporting indicates that ICE is holding immigrants at secret detention facilities across Colorado. Today, I attempted to conduct oversight at one of the locations in Garfield County.

Utah Republican legislators rushed a bill to potentially split up Salt Lake County at the last second.
The last "yes" vote landed five seconds too late.

31 CO lawmakers - led by congressional candidate Manny Rutinel - sent a letter yesterday to immigration officials stating that the "existence of undisclosed detention sites, 'hidden in plain sight' between strip malls and office parks, is unacceptable." coloradotimesrecorder.com/2026/03/afte...

Last week Evans made a big show of concern with ICE entering homes w/o a judicial warrant. His "grilling" of the ICE Director lasted 23 seconds and consisted of asking him to agree to talk more about it... in private... sometime later.
These guys say a lot of crazy things. Our reporter @suziereports.bsky.social was there to hear them. Oh, and also to see Joe Oltmann sashay across the stage while showing off a little gun under his jacket.
The racist video posted by the President is perhaps the most egregiously racist thing shown in the White House since Woodrow Wilson screened Birth of a Nation there in 1915. Here's an article from Denver's Black newspaper in 1915 calling for Americans to denounce such racist imagery.
The participating candidates are Bottoms, Lopez, and Mikesell. To be fair, Bottoms pushed back on the moderator's statistics, saying that Islamic migrants to America aren't having that many more kids, but then said the real problem is Sharia law.
LIVE in Elbert County, CO: Question for 3 Republican gubernatorial candidates: "The average Islamic man has 4 wives, each have 8 children. So one man produces 32 children... there will be a shift in the population. What will you do to prevent this in CO?"
Spoiler alert- they all answer seriously.
Skywriting, a new ICE facility in Colorado, and other news you might have missed over the weekend ⬇️
Just learned the CBS News app has local affiliates, like Minneapolis, which led me to see a great piece on the businesses on the block where ICE murdered Alex Pretti. Also- the Twin Cities weather guy does his forecasts using Viking QB numbers- "today's high is JJ McCarthy."
National group @moveon.org hired the plane.
fun fact for Colorado politics types: the Leadership Institute has been handling the political training for Republican state legislators, with longtime GOP operative Tyler Sandberg teaching the classes.
Check out CTR's Sean Beedle reporting live from D.C.
During a $500 a plate breakfast at Washington D.C.’s Capitol Hill Club, March for Life Action donors heard from 22 Republican U.S. Representatives.

Seems worth noting that "report" author Dustin Zvonek, whom the CBS Denver anchor interviewed, is a partner at 76 Group, the GOP firm that *created* Common Sense Inst as a way to get headlines to help Republicans win elections. Read more about it here: coloradotimesrecorder.com/2024/02/most...
Kepler vs. Frosty, a one- act play with a surprise ending.
In the trial for a man accused of following a nonwhite Colorado TV reporter and then tackling and choking him outside the station after yelling "This is Trump's America now," the defense is arguing he experienced “medical hysteria" from a Benadryl prescription: www.kkco11news.com/2026/01/06/t...
Attention holiday shoppers: if a petition gatherer asks you for your signature to "limit ICE," be sure to read the fine print. The initiative from right-wing Advance Colorado actually would override state/local laws that protect immigrants.
