The thing I can’t figure out about companies making their products deliberately worse like shrinkflation or changing ingredients or raising the price of streaming or making the Washington Post unreadable is that consumers can just simply not buy the product. I mean, what’s the endgame here?

I can make what I make without AI. And I can restrict the art I consume to things that are made without AI. So no, there's no reason to "adapt" at all. What a silly way to think.
I’ve been drumming again recently and subsequently been listening to The Police most because Stewart Copeland is the drummer I love the most. Lucky for me, that guy has never met a YouTube show he won’t be on.
If anything I make ever gets popular, I'm immediately going to go on some right-wing shit heads podcast and fuck up whatever good will people have towards me by talking about how the wokes are destroying entertainment.
I think that's a solid plan!
When I worked in the restaurant business way back in the 90s they were supposed to but they definitely didn't.
A still from the movie The Eliminators which is about a Mandroid. This picture has him in his mobile tank thing.
Listen. I watched a movie with a Mandroid. They called him a Mandroid several times throughout the movie, he was the main character and he was indeed a man+droid. The name of said movie? The Eliminators.
I’m bummed that I’ve never made a podcast popular enough to get a one star review on apple saying “I liked it before it got woke”.
And this is the hero of the movie.
This is what R.O.T.O.R. actually looks like.
This is a Japanese poster from a 1987 Terminator/Robocop ripoff called R.O.T.O.R. and is not as good as the poster suggests.
I just heard an ad for a podcast where the two hosts said “you might know us as the co-creators of the no kings movement“ and I promise you I do not.
I saw The Flaming Lips at Red Rocks and they couldn’t get their tech to work and didn’t have a way to play without it apparently so after watching them try and fail to play their set for forty five minutes or so I left. I never really looked at them the same after that.
Great episode! Also thanks for the shoutout!
There's a surreal quality to our dystopian nightmare future when watching the CEO's of shitty fast food companies being forced to eat their own products and pretend to enjoy them. It's dada-esque and I wasn't expecting it!
Here's the thing. Yes Miami Vice was a groundbreaking show in terms of it's stories and especially how it looked but really to me it's Jan Hammers amazing score that just sears it into my brain.

I‘m sorry but I don‘t believe for a single second that any self respecting podcast host “just made the switch to Mint Mobile!”
I have not seen Video Heaven yet but as a veteran employee of three video stores in the 90s and beyond, this excellent essay from @kphipps3000.bsky.social really resonated with me.

Was I watching a lot of MST3K at the time? Maybe!
A while ago I had this idea of making a series of collages based old monster movies. This guy is from a movie called ROBOT MONSTER and it's a guy in a gorilla suit with an old diving bell helmet. He communicates with his home planet through a radio that has bubbles coming out of it.
5 Stars.
The weird thing about being a... follicly challenged man is that I like to wear hats for obvious reasons but the perception of most mens hats is largely negative. Flat caps, greek fishermans hats and especially fedoras or anything that looks like a fedora. People have OPINIONS about them.
Yep! The boats and bikes and little shack where the bored teenage workers were are all gone.
There used to be a thriving business here, the swan boats and their colorful lights would all be out until night fell all summer and now, thanks to the absolutely terrible mismanagement of the city and our shitass mayor, it’s just gone.
made a lil skull
Denvers year without a winter has left me with the complete inability to dress properly for the day.
I may not have posted this here but my long gestating documentary podcast, Doomsday Daydreams, is out! I made it just for you and you can listen here - pod.link/1675939815
And you must. You must listen.
Ha
Hilariously, when I reached out to them to tell them they sent out the wrong link they were like "whatever. people can google it if they want." This was the end of me trying (and failing) for years to get a seat at the cool kids table.
Last year when I tried to relaunch my old audio zine, I tried to partner up with the other audio magazines out there. One of them ignored me completely and the other grudgingly put me in their newsletter. And they sent out the wrong link. To the people who ignored me.
This is a tough business!
There are three from my high school who are all about the same level of famous: Pam Grier, Don Cheadle and (sigh) TJ Miller.
So there was a live show, there's an instagram feed but now Doomsday Daydreams - the podcast - is out!
Listen at this link:

And then share it with all your friends, family, random passersby, and anyone else interested in the apocalypse. Which is probably everyone.
