Estimates of the Voting-Age Population for 2023 This notice announces the voting-age population estimates as of July 1, 2023 for each state and the District of Columbia. We are providing this notice in accordance with the 1976 amendment to the Fede...

But the voting age population is what is counted here. So 262 million is the base number. Still not 1/3, but at least it is the accurate starting place.

especially in light of recent victories of more progressive candidates. Yet the clear message from leadership and many of the rank and file is that we don't give a crap about your issues but you better vote for us or you will really get hurt.

party does not care about Progressive priorities but will bend over backwards for a so-called centrist? And given the catastrophe that hit the party starting in 2008 at the state level, how will continuing this tactic change those results? It would seem time to embrace the Progressives,

Yet again the Democrats allowed a Senator who voted against the party's priorities multiple times and then left the party to retain a powerful leadership position.

What does this say to those Progressives who are now told to get the f**k in line and vote Blue no matter who? Does it say that the

but he did, and his vote secured that SC seat for Kavanaugh and led to both the Roe decision being overturned and the plethora of horrible decisions ever since. Yet in 2024 when he left the Democratic party and became and Independent he was allowed to keep his chair of the Energy Committee.

Yes, but fast forward a few years and we have Sen. Joe Manchin, whose vote for Brett Kavanaugh can be said to have been the confirming vote (without Manchin the vote would have been 49-49, requiring VP Pence to vote). Yes the result would have been the same had he not voted for Kavanaugh,

Arguably you could add Carter and Reagan to that list. Carter certainly did nothing to help the economy and it was his administration that started supporting the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan. Reagan continued this support as well as selling missiles to Iran.

insurance plan, leaving us with ACA (which, while much better than before, could have been a much better overall package).

So, the party did not punish Lieberman, an open traitor. Has that legacy harmed the party?

the urging of one Sen. Joe Biden. After fighting against the party’s nominee he was allowed to keep the chair (as an Independent) rather than allowing the senior Democrats on the committee to hold the chair.

Lieberman went on to monkey-wrench much of Obama’s agenda, helping to block a more robust

I’m reminded of the 2008 election cycle and the energy that brought a Democrat to the White House and gave the party solid control of Congress. Sen. Joe Lieberman spoke at the GOP convention in support of McCain. After the election Sen. Lieberman was allowed to keep his powerful committee chair at

Ok…so how do we get these voters to come out and support Democrats in the election this fall?

One of the best things I’ve read in a while:

And yet they can put it up as collateral and borrow against it at favorable rates. While it is not a liquid asset it definitely should be taxed as income.

I just went on all of that. I am paying $300/month total for A, B, D, and Medigap. I was paying close to $1000/month for insurance when I was working full time.

The current Medicare is much more affordable for me.

Since you mentioned Disney I take it you are reporting those violations I mentioned in the MP that use Yoda's image?

Linden Lab Official:Frequently Asked Questions on the IP Complaint Process

And just for reference, here is the current (?) LL IP complaint process.

you need to be consistent. And you need to do the reporting you clearly want when mentioning your moderation idea in another post. And prepare for the natural outcome of this.

Our vendors deserve to have their products protected. While I am not a builder I know a number of them, and the hours they put into designing, scripting, and building their products is huge. That deserves protection.

But...if you are wanting aggressive enforcement on the part of LL against this,

So you are taking the time to report all those vendors? If so I encourage you to search the following terms:

- Chainsaw Man
- Batman
- Camaro
- F/A 18 Hornet

I could continue. Look, I agree with you that IP theft is a problem in the MP.

Do this for me. Go to the MP and search on the term "Yoda". IP rights to Yoda currently belong to Disney. Disney is legendary for enforcement and protection of its IP. Will you report these as IP violations or not, and how do you make your choice?

Is making a virtual copy of a product and selling it in world as bad as ripping a copy of an existing virtual product from a vendor and reselling it? I am not a lawyer nor have I slept at a Holiday Inn Express, but I have to wonder how far strict enforcement would go towards killing SL.

6 months ago 0 0 1 0

Agreed. But it is. I fly virtual reproductions of RL aircraft every day. Many of these products are named for their RL counterparts. Others have a different name but mention their RL inspiration in their product description. All of this is ignored by LL.

6 months ago 0 0 1 0

I won't name the vendors for obvious reasons, but if this standard is applied as you suggest you have just shut down every aircraft, watercraft, and land vehicle vendor on the grid save for a handful of fantasy/sci-fi vendors. The SL economy is built on giving IP violations a nod and wink.

6 months ago 0 0 1 0

By this standard a vendor who builds a plane or boat based on a RL object and sells it is infringing on IP rights. We have vendors who make very detailed copies of warplanes that are used daily down in the combat area. Are these vendors in violation as well?

6 months ago 0 0 1 0

And I think we have the classic example of why this concept is doomed to failure. Legitimate questions about biases and abuse of such a system are dismissed and ridiculed. For example, what safeguards would you suggest be put in place by LL to prevent the kind of abuse suggested by others?

If you're arrested in Illinois protesting the planned ICE HQ in North Chicago, I can represent you pro bono. Email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com. As always, I will take as many cases as I can.

Today is International Non-Binary People's Day and the first day of Non-Binary Awareness Week

The day was first celebrated in 2012, started by Katje van Loon. The date was chosen for being precisely midway between International Women's Day and International Men's Day.
