And international connections are Kafkaesque.

O'Hare is the #1 airport I try to avoid. It's every bit as bad as you make it out to be.
She bought in the early 1990s...at what price? Do people think there's a god-given right to make 300% on the purchase price?
Seems like it would be a lot easier just to win elections by offering great candidates and compelling platforms for actually improving people's lives. But what do I know.
It may require funding "Melania: The Sequel", however.
No, no. God was sleeping on the job whenever a Democrat becomes president. The Bible says he does take rests on certain days.
woman in driver's seat of red tesla, smoking a joint and enjoying the self-driving mode
This is how we roll these days. {buh-boom, ching!}
Counterpoint: Last week, I saw a young woman in a red Tesla at the stoplight. She lit up a big joint and then drove on, laying way back, cellphone in one hand, joint in the other. I think some people really like the freedom their self-driving mode gives them.
Seems like this isn't how a governing system should operate?
I have frequently said that it is hard for me to imagine how Trump could further damage the institution of the DOJ, but that only demonstrates the limits of my imagination.
I did not imagine Trump putting Joe diGenova in charge of investigating his political enemies. It just got worse.

For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone “no” vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.
They could have a pool of retired judges do the cert selection based on institutional priorities then have one clerk per justice for writing assistance.
Interesting. What's the easiest answer to this? Does it require legislation or an antitrust action to force all products to allow integration with distributed methods of delivering apps? I don't know enough about this area.
My bottom line is that there must be some meaning to ABA Model Rule 3.1: "A lawyer shall not bring...a proceeding, or assert...an issue therein, unless there is a basis in law and fact for doing so that is not frivolous...." Making up or hypothesizing facts that don't exist will have consequences.
And what would blow some Americans' minds is that it's good for business! I once met a young Danish professor who had a business idea. His university guaranteed up to 3 years' leave, and he didn't need to worry about health insurance for his kids, so he was able to launch a small business.
We may be too far past "the death of expertise" to save what we had exactly...
but I do hope that somewhere along the way, we can forge a new consensus on the differences between competence and idiots, and between good faith and assholes.
This is where in this thread I saw agreement: White Americans as a constituency have never wanted to be constrained on matters of racial justice and multiracial democracy. Not in 1787, not in 1877 and not in 1968. Constitutions and judges can't top a norm that strong.
Wish it wasn't paywalled but I appreciate the heads up about the bill.
Can't say that AI isn't making an impact on political communication.
In the progression of printing-->telegraph-->radio-->TV-->Cable-->Internet-->Social Media, AI is the next distinctive phase.
Good lord. New song from Massive Attack with Tom Waits, and it's, well, very pointed:

“In my view, we must find in ourselves that same level of courage that the signers of the Declaration have so that we can do for our future what they did for theirs,” [Thomas] said.
Does he mean that courage which was insufficient for them to retain Jefferson's line criticizing the slave trade?
This is all very normal if you just switch out the first part, like this:
"Forty-something year old Ohio man claims..."
or
"Yale Law graduate claims..."
i can't help but think about 10 or 11 years ago when conservatives insisted that obama was uniquely anti-catholic because his administration thought that catholic-led orgs could just fill out a form if they didn't want to cover contraceptives in their health plans for employees.
Texas' only licensed Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu legal interpreter is now languishing in a Raymondville detention center. She’s lived in America for 35 years: www.texasobserver.org/immigration-...
NYT headline: Vance says the pope should be more careful when talking about theology.
I am seldom stopped in my tracks when scanning the news.
But this headline:
