Bluesky mods seeing Linda Yaccarino buying herself a yacht while their entire day consists on having to deal with death threats and doxxing from neurotic people for daring to use AI as a desperate cost saving measure.

so a funny thing is happening here: people are using @blockedforthispost.bsky.social to dunk on Why but what they may not realize is that @blockedforthispost.bsky.social is run by the same guy who runs the AI Haters blocklist that kicked this whole thing off
I recently even got added by a "Gringo/AI" block list, and let me tell you, I'm very much not white, lol. 🇲🇽
I'm very much a queer/trans, Mexican(born)-American, leftie. But that doesn't fit the narrative, right?
Yeah, this weird notion that people using AI are all cis, straight, and Nazis is another one of those things that just doesn't add up to the reality of the community here.
I'm at this point surrounded by lefties, queer/trans people, me included, and allies. Overwhelmingly so.
Also, no, I don't have that much money to spare. This stuff is genuinely valuable to me to where I'm making decisions on spending my money here vs. other things.
I pay two companies right now, a close friend who is by no means an AI shill either is also doing the same.
This is just the reality we live in.
And no, no one is holding a gun against my head, lol. 🤷🫠
I mean, as with Soros, I'd love for people's fantasies to be true and that I was getting paid for any of this. But, nope, unfortunately it's the opposite. I'm paying for this shit because I find it useful.
I know people really want to have this mental image of AI users as being some kind of mischievous scheming scammers, or boosters, or shills, and sure that may exist, but, at this point there's a non-insignificant amount of organic growth by people who just find this shit useful.
Me among them.
When I started finding that the technology was useful for most things I threw at it, I was like, yeah, I'm not going to try to find some grandiose use case to justify my usage.
If this shit works for mundane random shit, then it just works for mundane random shit.
But seriously, for the most part that list is good at identifying people you don't want to interact with.
After what has been happening today on this site I really want to subscribe to the AI Haters list and block half the site, but unfortunately a few people I like have been caught by its nets, heh. And you can't manually unblock them.
Seems like he is using Claude to block assholes for him, and this has gotten the assholes all riled up.
I have my YouTube channel set up similarly. There’s a reason i stopped streaming in 2016.
I wish I had had Claude or Gemini to keep me from reading racial and homophobic slurs and other abuse.
Wanted to play the game Pharaoh (1999) on 15 y/o Thinkpad under Linux. But it doesn't support widescreen res by default.
The mod for widescreen needed a shader that couldn't compile on the iGPU because it was too old.
Claude Opus 4.7 wrote a CPU-compiling shader to insert there instead.
IT WORKED
The anti-AI crowd on this website went from making good points against AI to being completely delusional and extremely toxic as AI spreads and the in-group/out-group mentality developed
As Bluesky’s data is fully open, it would be a prime case study for scientists studying online toxicity
my psychology. Even if just for a moment.
I also sometimes don’t know what to do with a movement that asks me to be less curious.
I’m also not ready to block out or cut ties with certain communities or people.
Will give it a few more years. Still feel there’s dust that needs to settle.
The reason why I keep engaging with anti-discourse is because that’s how I try to process still with how confusing and baffling it is to see it come out of some people’s feeds.
People I trust/respect constantly spewing stuff that contradicts my own lived experiences continues to do weird things to
hank green hasn't changed, he's just applying the same essential curiosity he always has and reached tentative and nuanced conclusions which your social circle has deemed verboten to even consider
If you just find your people and get on enough blocklists from the obnoxious part of the community, this place is fucking great
There is something about San Francisco though, a vibe that is missing from San Diego.
Can’t make any big moves for a year though.
Home sweet home…
Part of me would not mind living in San Francisco, but another part of me doesn’t ever want to leave San Diego.
At the end of the day, there’s no place like California. What a wonderful state.
as some others have said, i think one of the most analogous 'skills' that makes me able to effectively use ai tools is that i've been in positions managing or training other people. you really get the best results treating ai as a living thing that has imperfect ability and requires clear guidance.
Also, had no idea that the Presidio park that Trump wants to destroy was dedicated to Nancy Pelosi.
It’s a gorgeous park. It was full of people enjoying their day out.
Hope the city is able to protect it.
Good bye, San Francisco!
You’re a really beautiful city with a lot of tasty food. And it never gets old seeing the Golden Gate Bridge!
Your AI ads are a little out of control, and I still don’t know what any of the products do. I’ll stick with Claude and Gemini!
Can’t wait to visit again!
Was also cool to see his personal miniature railroad that he would ride on his backyard and this cool model of Disneyland.

The Walt Disney Family Museum at Presidio
One of the things that inspire me greatly about Walt Disney is how quick he was to adapt to and to develop a vision in response to new technology. He did this throughout his entire life.
It was so cool to see the historic multiplane camera at the Disney Family Museum. It was huuuge:
My dream is still some day to be able to take a Waymo from my home in San Diego to Disneyland. But even if technically they can drive on the freeway, there's no way a ride like that will ever be affordable.
The other thing, speaking of it being careful with pedestrians, I've been doing a lot of walking in the past few days and what I love about Waymos being on the street is that you know they will ALWAYS give you the right of way.
Human drivers don't always do that when they should.
Rode my first Waymo today with a friend, I would love to say it was "omg" incredible, and amazing, but it was just... normal! And normal is pretty great.
It was just a very smooth ride, it was very careful around other cars and pedestrians. I would use this over any person driving if available.
This used to depress me, but now I just accept that everyone's anxieties materialize differently.
The dust will settle in a couple of years, hopefully. But, yeah, right now things are just bad, people act so weird, specially online, people who otherwise are perfectly reasonable.
Some of these anti-AI folk on Bluesky honestly feel like a step away from MAGA or MAHA with some of the logic and/or amount of demonstrably false shit they believe. Just because you're a liberal doesn't mean you're not immune to groupthink either!
