It's basically a continuation of the original show, yes. Initially, it was conceived as a reboot but the showrunners changed midway into season 1. As S1 goes on, it becomes gradually more and more of a sequel to Daredevil that picks up plot points and characters from it. S2 is more like the OG.
Episode 5 of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 was peak. Solid character driven drama with some great performances. Vincent D'Onofrio is so good, man. They made some smart moves to tie it closer to the OG show and I’m genuinely surprised how much I’m enjoying this now.

I specifically remember a moment where either Hal or Lois tell Reese about some other kid who had two dads and instead of any outrage Reese is just a kid who thinks that sounds awesome.
There's one episode of the OG show where they're at a gay pride parade and it's treated as an accepted, normal thing by everyone. There's another one where Reese's army friend has a gay crush on his mother but she's totally cool and understanding about it. It was ahead of its time.
The usual conservative grifters are going to bitch and moan about some of the LGBTQ+ inclusion but the original show was always very progressive and represented a lot of types of people you didn't see much of on TV. His best friend was a disabled black boy whose parents were wealthy and successful.
Watched the first episode of the Malcolm In The Middle reunion and I liked it. The characters feel like they're logical continuations of what they were doing before and it doesn't feel like a cash grab. It feels like they had a solid idea for a special checking back in on them and it's well done.

The whole boxing arena sequence in Daredevil: Born Again episode 4 was very good. I think this is the first time since the original show where I feel like it's gotten on par with it. That episode had the sauce.
