So much false equivalence in media on gerrymandering in Texas vs California & Virginia. California and Virginia maps approved by the voters. That's a huge difference not enough people pointing out

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time.

This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.

Show a little respect?

They're so used to being coddled by Faux News & the right wing media ... They truly have no idea how journalism is supposed to work.

It's criminal that healthier food costs more than the stuff that's bad (or not as good) for you.

Well I agree entirely, I also would suspect many would refuse to return, plausibly citing the fact that four years from now they could be expelled again. This won't work, as much as I wish it would, unless there is real legislative change to undergird protections.

Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.

There is a real thing with journalists who've never served but have spent time with the military getting enamored & unable to be "detached" in a way they were before.

Another example would be Robert Kaplan, who gushed over our military enroute to blowing up his career advocating for invading Iraq.

I thought Junger's "Perfect Storm" was compelling, exceptional ... But nothing he's written since has really been close to that level. Maybe "Restrepo" comes closest as an on-the-ground look at daily life in Afghanistan.

It's 2026 & some Americans are afraid of solar panels & electric vehicles, so they would rather keep extracting & burning coal & oil & gas.
I'm not even sure how to interact with those people. I went to modern, public schools with modern, smart teachers.
Apparently many people did not.

So when it comes to beards and hairstyles, discipline requires strict conformity. When it comes to contracting and spreading a preventable illness that directly affects unit readiness, follow your bliss, man.

When you learned about the Iran hostage crisis, did they teach you this part?

In November 1979, during the crisis, Black hostages and women were released first.

Ruhollah Khomeini said they were oppressed in the United States and not part of the power structure, so they weren’t seen as spies.
