At Carlton the Garganey are still on Peto’s. There is a Little Ringed Plover from North Hide on the islet. A Bittern was stalking about too.

Peto’s Marsh this morning-drake Garganey,Little Ringed Plover,2 Ruff, 16 Golden Plover,summer plumaged Water Pipit. Along Spratts Water Lane a Blackcap was seen singing and a Dabchick trilling from the golf course pool

Two surprises at Hen Reed Beds this morning were a singing Woodlark and a Common Crane. I’ve not seen either there before

About 1970 John Gooders wrote that the 4 pits at Benacre were a place not to be missed in winter having divers, grebes, Goldeneye and Scoter. This is all that remains today - barely enough space for a pond skater!

There is a singing male Dartford Warbler in the first patch of gorse/bramble just south of Kessingland sluice

Just seen my first Brimstone of the year at Denes Oval Lowestoft

These fabulous Yellow Brain fungi were seen on Dunwich Heath today

There are now 63 Snow Buntings at the Pakefield/Kessingland shore pools! Quite a sight!

Several window corners in the coastguard’s cafe at Dunwich have aggregations of hibernating ladybirds. The Temminck’s Stint and Water Pipit are still on the scrape at Minsmere and I saw a very late Common Darter

3 Cattle Egrets on Peto’s Marsh Carlton at start of bund eastern end by digger. No cows in sight!

A Little Auk flew north along the tide line at Gunton Beach and there are 2 Firecrests in Corton Wood

3 Shorelarks Kessingland shore pools eastern edge plus Rock Pipit and Purple Sandpiper at sluice

A flock of 9 Crossbills in Waveney Forest

The juvenile Red-footed Falcon is giving a good display at Bure Park at the moment

A flock of 40-50 Crossbills has just flown over Covehithe heading south.

The Glossy Ibis is still at Carlton. It’s on the northern scrape of Share Marsh viewable from the river bank

Black Redstart singing and flycatching by Gulliver’s yard at Ness Point

It took quite a while to disentangle the bill and wing of this juvenile Gannet from a discarded fishing net on Dunwich Beach this afternoon.

The last 2 dragonfly surveys of Carlton Marshes have produced only the same 7 species. Diversity dropping and numbers too as autumn approaches

Love this sketch as it certainly sums up my experience of the bird and plenty of other birders too!
