WITHIN TEN MINUTES OF LIFE!
(Canon Toxique behavior.)
Posts by Alex Lemley (Rocketlex)
Tomodachi Life store was selling a bodysuit so I made Toxique and I already regret it.
The shooting doesn't even feel BAD, it just feels...like nothing. It feels like a came-with-the-engine, prebaked first-person shooter template with a lot of stuff painted over it but nothing added under the hood.
Yeah, that's him. I couldn't find anything that looked like Niko's uniform, so I went with something like his Day 6 off-the-clock outfit.
Mouse: P.I. for Hire is a fascinating lesson in game design, because it showcases how all the polish, content and creativity in the world can't cover for the fundamental flaw that it's a shooter where the shooting doesn't feel good.
Weâve got Match Maidens, Burger Site employees, robots from a sitcom pilot Iâve been meaning to write for twenty years, multiple demon girls, multiple wizards, creepypasta cryptids and a guy made of pasta sauce.
Welcome to New St. Lexâs Island.
(Guy in the middle is Commander Groove, from a game called Fantasy Mode Minus that I started working on during the pandemic but never got beyondâŚlikeâŚa half-demo. The demo didnât even get to the part where he shows up.
Anyway heâs in love with The Princess, now.)
So just like the last game, my Tomodachi Life island is populated entirely by my own characters from things Iâve worked on (or plan to work on), and the consequences of my actions are now being felt.
Itâs also making the pirated version of the game an unequivocally better and more functional product.
Iâve heard people saying itâs the most pirated Switch 2 game and I believe it.
I feel like thereâs no way Nintendo doesnât remove the restriction on exporting Tomodachi Life images, right? Itâs not stopping anything. People are streaming this game.
If you don't want to get into it now, the Krystal discussion might be better saved for when/if this new Star Fox game is actually announced and we see how/if she's going to be used in it. Might be a better jumping off point, especially if it sparks a lot of fresh discussion.
Itâs really a shame I canât share screenshots of Tomodachi Life because incredible things are happening here.
(Itâs a Petscop reference.
If youâre asking because you havenât watched Petscop, you should. Itâs awesome.)
How close to the release of the Zelda movie are we going to get before YouTubers start doing their Hyrule: The Light of Courage retrospectives?
Great to see mainstream media finally talking about this.
Is there a way to update a Steam game to make an active session start showing this?
According to Steam player analytics, itâs starting to look as though someone has had New Meat running for over 24 hours at this point.
Iâm starting to get concerned someone might have died playing my game.
Pragmata sounds like Neir: Automata for normies.
Damn, you didnât have to shoot Rhythm Heaven Groove a stray, too.
Either something's wrong with the Steam achievements or I'm somehow the world's greatest Sol Cesto player.
Like I win a trophy in some kart racer and it's flagged as a "meta item" compatible with multiple games, and there's also some RPG where, if I got that trophy in the racing game, I can put it on my head like a helmet.
And every game in the "group" can detect the trophy and use it for something.
As much of a nonstarter as blockchain games were, the idea of separate games having transferrable items is kind of interesting.
Like, I'm imagining a bunch of indie games all add items that can be swapped around to each other using various methods, with different effects in each.
I'd like to have this update done by the end of the month, in preparation for a MUCH more exciting update I plan to start on next month.
But don't worry. In addition to the under-the-hood stuff, I'll throw in some new curios to showcase what's possible now.
This will give me more ability to control the dungeon from a meta-level. It could allow me to, for example, create a curio that makes pots or meat pickups spawn more frequently (something which isn't possible the way it currently works).
NEW MEAT UPDATE: I've started on a new update, but this one's going to be a little different.
Instead of focusing on content, this one is going to be a rework of several under-the-hood systems, particularly the way objects and enemies spawn in the dungeon.
Oh huh. Well, I think the list still works as-is.
Also I was thinking of changing my mind and putting "Kirby Super Star" for best retro game but this database DOESN'T HAVE THE ORIGINAL SNES VERSION! And the DS remake is NOT what I mean!
Some of these were hard but this list feels correct for me. I think you could definitely find all the pieces of New Meat in here.
(Also when I say Deltarune for "Favorite Antagonist" I mean Queen.)
Funnily enough, Legends Arceus pseudo-retcons that entry to be referring to Copperajah instead.
Also please donât get hung up on my use of the word âfunâ as shorthand for like 30 nebulous concepts for worthwhile and enriching engagement with art. Iâm an adult.
