Time goes very quick!

It's been an incredible 17 yrs ago this wk since.

Meeting #astronomer Sir Patrick Moore for the day at his house was an experience I'll always remember.

I was invited to stay overnight at his house but I'd already booked into a hotel.

Others did stay at his large old house.

So, I've a few more threads, mostly about science & mathematics, to copy over onto here & perhaps more than I thought:
bsky.app/profile/clai...

I haven't counted how many threads I've written but probably just below a 100, but could be more.

So, another thread to copy over here (linked post below)

I've just written this on the other platform about links not going to individual posts the last few days (pic & link, but it might not work via the APP, so only if you're using Bluesky from a browser).

It's good that they're ok via a browser but would be better if both worked. x.com/i/status/204...

Ok so,

It looks like individual posts to Twitter X via the APP only, are currently not working from here & other platforms so next best is to use a browser instead where I've checked links that way & they work.

I'm hoping it's temporary as I've an archive of links to my writing on the Twitter APP!

Test to see if this link works instead

Hya again.

It seems that Bluesky isn't allowing links to Twitter X anymore.

So you'll only see that post properly & the thread it belongs to, if you're still using Twitter X.

It means my other links there to my other threads since starting here, will now not be working too (I'll assume)

Oh well.

I put the wrong link in the previous post, so the correct link is below here:

Also, I'm yet to copy the thread that post belongs to, on to here, along with my other numerous threads on science, mathematics & some satellite subjects.

I hope they're informative to anyone here.

17 yrs ago today, I spent a day at #astronomer, Patrick Moore's house.

Professor Colin Pillinger who was Beagle 2 Mars lander lead, was just 1 of the scientists that attended.

Linked post (other platform) has always been pinned in memory of my friend who went & Patrick...

Aligned Bubbles

Here are some #bubbles that have formed from spilt tea & water, when I made a cup of tea now, on my kitchen worktop.

Notice the #geometric pattern they've made.

The #physics involved isn't entirely understood but it's a combination of #hydrodynamics, surface tension & surfactants.

So there's science (& for me mathematics).

Maybe add more layers, like art, psychology & philosophy...

How do you perceive everything now?

The reasoning behind your book stacks has been added to what I know, so I'll respect it accordingly.

I've just had a quick glance at the area outside Manchester on Google maps & can see why you went.

Lovely in the good weather...

Sunshine is really Starshine, after all. ☀️

Hey, I did not know that, so my sorry...

Yes ok kewl.

Well, your books are always a good thinking reference point (for me at least).

I'm still not convinced we're in Spring but I'll enjoy it anyway as...

there's glorious sunshine & clear blue skies here this afternoon & hoping you've got it too.

You're welcome!

Yes, Saturn is low down.

I drew this (1st pic) of Jupiter & Io using a computer software program just before my website went live in 1999 & relied on my imagination. It was then, I also started science writing on my website.

Since, I've (mostly) drawn what I've seen in #astronomy.

That is absolutely immense.

Jupiter (& even more so Saturn as you'll probably know) is tricky to capture but you've done it here.

Venus & the Moon last night was a great sight...

I don't mean these 3 threads as they're about mathematical #physicists themselves, (& my books on them & by them) not actual #mathematics.

I've also written about some general #statistics referencing specific areas (& more of my books on them too).

But I also think science should be very practical & down to Earth, so studied to become useful to industry & therefore as a method for improving life & not just about finding out how things work because it's interesting

So science is about a mixture of areas, all of which have a vital role to play.

The Renaissance was a unique time in history & not just for science but for art, culture & the industrial world.

It was a major paradigm shift in evolution making sure the human race got to a point in discovery & meaning.

And doing for the love of finding things out has been lost a lot since then.

Are you going to use this stack of books as a coffee table then?

It's quite nicely balanced.

Just put a sheet of perspex on top of the top book & you're done.

Maybe a plant on top of that.

Add a book you'll read (obv not from that stack!).

And cup of coffee (I did actually forget that bit) lol.

I'll redo this post in a few days but using my computer as this was done on mobile (so explains the rough quality).

I've already written the general mathematics in a thread yrs ago, so it was an experiment to put the text in a split layout with a picture.

It just needs tweaking

Complex Analysis

From #complexnumbers to number theory, this is an area to include where #mathematics is used in physics & engineering e.g quantum mechanical amplitudes.

It directly connects with science & when maths seems too #abstract, physical science makes more sense of it.

I just posted this on the other platform:

Bluesky #Bluesky is currently down (1st pic).

My account currently shows this (2nd pic).

Hoping it gets back, as I've been copying over my science threads there since I opened an account on it.

It's a very friendly place.
I'm still using both platforms.

I'm a big fan of Scotland & I like science, so 1 day I'd like to go to the Edinburgh Science Festival.

A link to a post I did that contains a list of recent threads I've written about #astronomy & #astrophysics which focus on more detailed #science such as #orbitalmechanics.

I've also #written about other satellite subjects such as #physics & #mathematics & some engineering.

to a high rank, e.g professor, then the financial incentives are justified. I don't think science, especially today, is a subject that has the same intrinsic capital unlike for e.g during the Renaissance when discovery was done for the love of it. So, some essence has been lost along the way perhaps
