Very dreadful news. Seeing Rubbers Lover and Gerrorist at a tender age blew my mind. I only saw Pinoccio 964 recently and it's pretty much perfect!
Some very say news just in, but Shozin Fukui, director of Pinocchio 964 and Rubbers Lover, passed away on 2 April. As some might know, in the midst of a resurgence of interest in his work that culminated with a 2025 retrospective at K's Cinema in Shinjuku, he was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.

I've never read The Da Vinci Code. But The Raw Shark Texts is a twisty, fun, high concept thriller that is poppy and silly and fun, but is also about deadly semiotics. And a conceptual killer shark. I remember thinking as I read it, 'wow, I could recommend this to literally everybody I know!'
you would experience a few feelings at once, such as:
- surprise that Australia had their own Village People
- intrigue that their Village People were all cowboys?
- shock that this is somehow less subtle than the Village People
- amazement that someone kept this video safe to share it with you
